Simulation-based training (SBT) is a powerful educational tool permitting the acquisition of surgical knowledge, skills, and attitudes at both the individual- and team-based level in a safe, nonthreatening learning environment at no risk to a patient. Interprofessional education (IPE), in which participants from 2 or more health or social care professions learn interactively, can help improve patient care through the promotion of efficient coordination, dissemination of advances in care across specialties and professions, and optimization of individual- and team-based function. Nonetheless, conducting SBT IPE sessions poses several tactical and strategic challenges that must be effectively overcome to reap IPE's benefits.

Background: The Age-Friendly Health System (AFHS) initiative seeks to improve care for older adults through assessing and acting on the 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, Mobility). The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) joined the initiative in 2020, and from 2022 to 2023, VA led its first Age-Friendly Action Community, a 7-month online educational series to teach clinicians about implementing the 4Ms across VA care settings.
Methods: The VA Action Community was designed to spread awareness about Age-Friendly care for older Veterans, improve interprofessional team knowledge for providing care guided by the 4Ms, and support AFHS implementation across multiple care settings.

Background: Disproportionate access to healthcare services among the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning and others (LGBTQ+) population can be partially attributed to the lack of cultural competence among healthcare providers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of an interprofessional model in improving cultural competence and clinical preparedness among dental and pharmacy students for providing LGBTQ+ specific care.
Methodology: This study is a retrospective observational study which used a novel interprofessional model of three different LGBTQ+ focused educational interventions within a group of dental and pharmacy students.

What Was The Educational Challenge?: Nurses play an essential role in the professional development of physician trainees within the clinical learning environment (CLE), but rarely receive formal training regarding this role.
What Was The Solution?: Utilizing a multifaceted, systematic approach, we developed an educational program for newly licensed nurses which addressed their role in the CLE and the professional development of physician trainees.
How Was The Solution Implemented?: We delivered two 90-minute workshops to approximately 40 nurses during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Defy Dementia is a public health initiative, led by the Baycrest Academy for Research and Education (BARE) and funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. It involves curating, co-designing, and disseminating a series of knowledge products to raise public awareness of dementia prevention and reduce stigma associated with dementia.
