In the present paper, a local mean-based K-nearest centroid neighbor (LMKNCN) technique is used for the classification of stars, galaxies and quasars (QSOS). The main idea of LMKNCN is that it depends on the principle of the nearest centroid neighborhood(NCN), and selects K centroid neighbors of each class as training samples and then classifies a query pattern into the class with the distance of the local centroid mean vector to the samples . In this paper, KNN, KNCN and LMKNCN were experimentally compared with these three different kinds of spectra data which are from the United States SDSS-DR8. Among these three methods, the rate of correct classification of the LMKNCN algorithm is higher than the other two algorithms or comparable and the average rate of correct classification is higher than the other two algorithms, especially for the identification of quasars. Experiment shows that the results in this work have important significance for studying galaxies, stars and quasars spectra classification.

Wi-Fi fingerprint-based indoor localization methods are effective in static environments but encounter challenges in dynamic, real-world scenarios due to evolving fingerprint patterns and feature spaces. This study investigates the temporal variations in signal strength over a 25-month period to enhance adaptive long-term Wi-Fi localization. Key aspects explored include the significance of signal features, the effects of sampling fluctuations, and overall accuracy measured by mean absolute error.

The preliminary classification of biological class data is of great importance for bioinformatics. One can quickly classify object data by comparing their existing features with known traits. k-nearest neighbor algorithm is easy to apply in this field, but its drawbacks make it less meaningful to improve the efficiency of the algorithm by simply changing the distance model, so this study uses a local mean-based k-nearest neighbor classifier and compares the accuracy of the predicted classification of six different distance models used.

Closed-loop transcranial ultrasound stimulation technology is based on real-time feedback signals, and has the potential for precise regulation of neural activity. In this paper, firstly the local field potential (LFP) and electromyogram (EMG) signals of mice under different intensities of ultrasound stimulation were recorded, then the mathematical model of ultrasound intensity and mouse LFP peak/EMG mean was established offline based on the data, and the closed-loop control system of LFP peak and EMG mean based on PID neural network control algorithm was simulated and built to realize closed-loop control of LFP peak and EMG mean of mice. In addition, using the generalized minimum variance control algorithm, the closed-loop control of theta oscillation power was realized.

Prioritizing Hormone Therapy Over Vigabatrin as the First Treatment for Infantile Spasms: A Quality Improvement Initiative.

Background And Objectives: Infantile spasms (IS) are early childhood seizures with potentially devastating consequences. Standard therapies (adrenocorticotropic hormone [ACTH], high-dose prednisolone, and vigabatrin) are strongly recommended as the first treatment for IS. Although this recommendation comes without preference for one standard therapy over another, early remission rates are higher with hormone therapy (ACTH and high-dose prednisolone) when compared with vigabatrin.

Improving Minimum Cross-Entropy Thresholding for Segmentation of Infected Foregrounds in Medical Images Based on Mean Filters Approaches.

Contrast Media Mol Imaging

Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Beirut Arab University, Beirut, Lebanon.

Mean-based thresholding methods are among the most popular techniques that are used for images segmentation. Thresholding is a fundamental process for many applications since it provides a good degree of intensity separation of given images. Minimum cross-entropy thresholding (MCET) is one of the widely used mean-based methods for images segmentation; it is based on a classical mean that remains steady and limited value.
