Objective: Accumulation of hydrophobic bile acids is linked with cancer development. However, derivatives of deoxycholic acid (DCA) and lithocholic acid (LCA) produced via bacterial metabolism may mitigate the proinflammatory and cytotoxic effects of hydrophobic bile acids. The impact of diet on secondary bile acid (BA) derivative production has not been determined.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a multisystem disorder in which dysregulated neuroimmune crosstalk and inflammatory relay via the gut-blood-brain axis have been implicated in PD pathogenesis. Although alterations in circulating inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS) have been associated with PD, no biomarkers have been identified that predict clinical progression or disease outcome. Gastrointestinal (GI) dysfunction, which involves perturbation of the underlying immune system, is an early and often-overlooked symptom that affects up to 80 % of individuals living with PD.

Introduction: Stasis of bile flow can result in microbial colonization of the biliary tree. Cholangitis is a common adverse event linked to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Aim: To establish the bacterial profiles isolated from the bile sample and to evaluate the pre-ERCP risk factors predicting the microbial growth and development of post-ERCP cholangitis (PEC).

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the protective effect of Cannabidiol (CBD) on DSS-induced colitis in C57BL/6 mice and its related pathways.
Methods: A mouse model of ulcerative colitis (US) was induced by DSS. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), quantitative reverse transcription polymerase-chain reaction (qRT-PCR), Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) were used to identify the key factors involved in inflammatory response, oxidative stress and intestinal fibrosis.

Background: The risk of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer after lung transplantation (LTx) in sarcoidosis patients is not well defined. Given the cancer risks linked to sarcoidosis and organ transplantation, this study investigated the incidence of GI malignancies (DNM), comparing LTx recipients with sarcoidosis or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
Methods: We analyzed data from the United Network for Organ Sharing registry, including adults with sarcoidosis or IPF who underwent LTx between May 2005 and December 2018.
