A 62-year-old man was emergently admitted to our hospital because of disturbance of consciousness. Computed tomography of the chest and abdomen showed pleural effusion, ascites, and generalized lymphadenopathy. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed bleeding from an irregular ulcerative lesion in the lesser curvature of the middle portion of the gastric body, and exhibited the morphology of Borrman type 4 gastric cancer. The patient died on the seventh hospital day. At autopsy, a diagnosis of primary small cell gastric carcinoma associated with adenocarcinoma was made. Primary small cell gastric carcinoma and its coexistence with adenocarcinoma, as in this case, is rare.

Purpose: To assess longitudinal changes in optical quality across the periphery (horizontal meridian, 60°) in young children who are at high (HR) or low risk (LR) of developing myopia, as well as a small subgroup of children who developed myopia over a 3-year time frame.
Methods: Aberrations were measured every 6 months in 92 children with functional emmetropia at baseline. Children were classified into HR or LR based on baseline refractive error and parental myopia.

Delta-like protein (DLL3) is a novel therapeutic target. DLL3 expression in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NECs) is poorly understood, complicating the distinction between well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors G3 (NET G3) and poorly differentiated NEC. DLL3 immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed on 248 primary GEP-NECs, correlating with clinicopathological parameters, NE markers, PD-L1, Ki67 index, and prognosis.

Human carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) plays a key role in maintaining pH homeostasis of malignant neoplasms, thus creating a favorable microenvironment for the growth, invasion, and metastasis of tumor cells. Recent studies have established that inhibition of CAIX expressed on the surface of tumor cells significantly increases the efficacy of classical chemotherapeutic agents and makes it possible to suppress the resistance of tumor cells to chemotherapy, as well as to increase their sensitivity to drugs (in particular, to reduce the required dose of cytostatic agents). In this work, we studied the ability of new CAIX inhibitors based on substituted 1,2,4-oxadiazole-containing primary aromatic sulfonamides, to potentiate the cytostatic effect of gefitinib (selective inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase domain) under hypoxic conditions.

The paper presents the variations of space radiation (primary and secondary galactic cosmic rays (GCR) absorbed dose rate in silicon and flux) measured during the first-ever commercial suborbital flight of the Virgin Galactic (VG) SpaceShipTwo Unity on 29 June 2023. A Portable Dosimeter-Spectrometer Liulin-CNR-VG is used. It is developed in the Space Research and Technology Institute, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS) under a scientific contract with National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Italy.
