Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) is a connective tissue disorder caused by mutations that decrease transforming growth factor-β signaling. LDS-causing mutations increase the risk of aneurysm throughout the arterial tree, yet the aortic root is a site of heightened susceptibility.
