Background: Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare life-threatening inborn error of neurotransmitter biosynthesis. It is characterized by deficient biosynthesis of neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, leading to catecholamines deficiency and sympathetic deprivation, while the parasympathetic system remains functional. Since 2012, gene therapy has led to clinical improvements in symptoms and motor function with a severe phenotype.

We present the case of a 28-year-old female patient who underwent a bilateral lung transplantation for underlying terminal bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The peroperative access to the hilum of the right lung was significantly compromised due to the presence of a pectus excavatum (Haller index 11). We used a wired sternal crane technique to elevate the sternum and gain exposure.

Background: Autologous breast reconstruction patients require thorough assessment, with the profunda femoris artery perforator (PAP) flap having become an important autologous reconstruction option alongside the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap. Purpose: Postoperative fever (POF)/urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most unpleasant and undesirable conditions for surgeons after retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS). RIRS is not recommended for any patient with a positive urine culture to avoid POF and UTI, but some patients may develop postoperative UTI even if the urine culture is sterile. This study investigated the predictive factors of fever and UTIs after RIRS.

Heparin is an anticoagulant used invariably in all cardiac surgery. Heparin dosing and its reversal were determined by monitoring activated clotting time (ACT). Intermittent heparin dosing after initial bolus dose is widely practiced to maintain ACT level 200-300 seconds in Off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB).
