Two hundred twenty one patients aged 32-93 years with brain infarction, admitted to a Vascular Neurology Center in the first 3-48 hours (mean 6 hours) after the onset of the symptoms of stroke with computed tomography (CT) verified diagnosis were enrolled in the study. According to the timing of the CT-verification the patients were divided into 2 groups: "early" visualization (EV 50.2%) and "late" visualization (LV, 49.8%). In the EV group the lesion was visualized by CT on the admission (3-6 hours after the admission), in the LV group it was visualized only when CT was repeated 2-3 days after the admission. The patients in the LV group demonstrated increased severity of the underlying pathology, increased mortality and unfavourable functional outcomes correlating with the stroke lesion volume vs. the EV group. There was observed pathophysiological correlation of the blood enzymatic spectrum and acid-base balance parameters, explaining the late lesion visualization by delayed and more pronounced intracellular energy synthesis stabilization mechanisms failure in the aerobic and anaerobic glycolysis cycles.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive neurological disorder primarily affecting motor control, clinically characterized by resting tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity, and other symptoms that significantly diminish the quality of life. Currently, available treatments only alleviate symptoms without halting or delaying disease progression. There is a significant association between PD and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), possibly due to shared pathological mechanisms such as insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
Introduction: Despite improvements in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), some patients still suffer from functional impairments, indicating the poor understanding of pathophysiologic process of AIS. Inflammation plays an important role in the pathophysiology of AIS. The purpose of the study was to investigate the peripheral inflammation in different subtypes of AIS.

As defined by the World Health Organisation, DCM constitutes a significant cardiac pathology, leading to increased morbidity and mortality due to complications such as heart failure and arrhythmias. The diagnostic process for DCM predominantly employs echocardiography and MRI, with biomarkers like NT-pro BNP and troponin providing supportive, yet non-specific, evidence.
Background And Objectives: Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) syndrome is a maternally inherited mitochondrial disorder that mostly affects the central nervous system and skeletal muscle. This study provides a comprehensive summary of the clinical symptoms, multisystemic pathogenesis, and genetic characteristics of MELAS syndrome. The aim was to improve comprehension of clinical practice and gain a deeper understanding of the latest pathophysiological theories.
Depression is a heterogeneous and complex psychological syndrome with highly variable manifestations, which poses difficulties for treatment and prognosis. Depression patients are prone to developing various comorbidities, which stem from different pathophysiological mechanisms, remaining largely understudied. The current study focused on identifying comorbidity-specific phenotypes, and whether these clustered phenotypes are associated with different treatment patterns, clinical manifestations, physiological characteristics, and prognosis.
