Two species of the pagurid hermit crab genus Lophopagurus McLaughlin, 1981 are reported herein. Lophopagurus (Lophopagurus) minimus n. sp., described on the basis of two females from Tuamotu Archipelago, French Polynesia, appears closest to L. (L.) nanus (Henderson, 1888), but is easily distinguished from the latter by the different shape of the ocular peduncles and the less developed armature of the right cheliped. A single female from the Bohol Sea, the Philippines, is identified with L. (Australeremus) indonesiensis McLaughlin, 1997, a species for which possible synonymy with L. (A.) triserratus has been suggested. The newly collected specimen confirms the validity of the species and represents its second record since the original description.

A new species of the pagurid hermit crab genus Catapagurus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880, is described based on a single male specimen from off Okinawa Islands, Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan, at a depth of 150 m. Catapagurus cracens sp.

It was further characterized by a reduced branchial formula, fourth pereopods with grasping-like spines instead of typically pagurid rasp-like scales, nearly symmetrical uropods and telson, and a minute pair of first pleopods (gonopods). The single specimen was discovered in samples from the rariphotic zone (~130-309 m) obtained using a suction sampler operated from the manned submersible R/V Curasub over cryptic habitats and surfaces populated by communities of sessile macro-organisms.

We describe three new species of hermit crab of the pagurid genera, Catapagurus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880, Nematopagurus A. Milne-Edwards Bouvier, 1892 and Pagurixus Melin, 1939, on the basis of material collected during the scientific cruise to the Northern Mariana Islands conducted by the U.

A new pagurid hermit crab species is assigned to the genus Kumepagurus Komai Osawa, 2012, previously represented only by the type species, K. cavernicolus Komai Osawa, 2012, known only from a marine cave on Ryukyu Islands, northwestern Pacific. The assignment is made because of the lack of an accessory tooth on the maxilliped 3 ischium, the operculiform right chela, the presence of two distal corneous claws on the left chela fixed finger, the simple pereopods 4 and the development and structure of the male sexual tubes on both coxae of pereopods 5, all characteristic to the type species of the genus.
