Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent metabolic disorder with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) that is enhanced by obesity. This study sought to determine whether a panel of cardiovascular risk proteins (CVRPs) would be dysregulated in overweight/obese PCOS patients, highlighting potential biomarkers for CVD in PCOS.
Methods: In this exploratory cross-sectional study, plasma levels of 54 CVRPs were analyzed in women with PCOS (n = 147) and controls (n = 97).

Purpose: This study explores the effects of anthracycline chemotherapy (AC) on breast cancer patients, focusing on changes in body composition, advanced echocardiographic parameters at rest and during exercise, and biomarkers; and subsequently assesses whether these parameters are associated with impaired cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF).
Methods: In this prospective study, we evaluated women with early-stage breast cancer undergoing AC at three visits: before AC, 1 month after, and 6 months post-AC.
Results: The study included 32 women with breast cancer, with functional disability increasing from 9.
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) causes ischemic damage and cardiac remodeling that ultimately progresses into ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). Coronary revascularization reduces morbidity and mortality from an MI, however, reperfusion also induces oxidative stress that drives cardiac myocyte (CM) dysfunction and ICM. Oxidative stress in CMs leads to reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and mitochondrial damage.

Cardiomyopathy is a common co-morbidity in individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). This retrospective single centre study investigated the relationship between age at loss of ambulation (LOA) and late stage left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in 84 individuals (> 16 years old) with DMD taking glucocorticoid and ACE inhibitors treatment. Regression analyses showed a positive correlation between later age at LOA and higher LVEF in adulthood (linear regression estimate 1.

Background: Adrenomedullin 2 (AM2) plays critical roles in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance. However, the specific involvement of AM2 in cardiac hypertrophy has not been comprehensively elucidated, warranting further investigation into its molecular mechanisms and therapeutic implications.
Methods: Cardiac hypertrophy was induced in adult mice lacking AM2 (AM2-/-) using transverse aortic constriction surgery.
