Department of Radiology Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health and Disorders, Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Child Development and Disorders, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Child Neurodevelopment and Cognitive Disorders, China. Electronic address:

Objective: To explore the clinical value of combining split-bolus contrast injection with dual-energy CT(DECT) scanning technology in pediatric computed tomography urography (CTU) imaging.

Methods: A total of 128 children aged 0-17 years were prospectively selected and randomly assigned to three groups: A, B, and C. For Group A, a high-pitch flash mode was employed, where a single bolus of contrast agent was followed by four-phase scanning (noncontrast, cortex, medulla, and excretory phases).

Background: Despite the increasing popularity of electronic devices, the longitudinal effects of daily prolonged electronic device usage on brain health and the aging process remain unclear.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the daily use of mobile phones/computers on the brain structure and the risk of neurodegenerative diseases.

Methods: We used data from the UK Biobank, a longitudinal population-based cohort study, to analyze the impact of mobile phone use duration, weekly usage time, and playing computer games on the future brain structure and the future risk of various neurodegenerative diseases, including all-cause dementia (ACD), Alzheimer disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD), all-cause parkinsonism (ACP), and Parkinson disease (PD).

: This study aimed to explore how the microarchitectural features of lacunae and perilacunar zones impact the biomechanics of microdamage accumulation in cortical bone, crucial for understanding bone disorders' pathogenesis and developing preventive measures. : Utilizing the phase field finite element method, the study analyzed three bone unit models with varying microarchitecture: one without lacunae, one with lacunae and one including perilacunar zones, to assess their effects on cortical bone's biomechanical properties. : The presence of lacunae was found to increase microcrack initiation risk, acting as nucleation points and accelerating microcrack propagation.

Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-, leucine-rich repeat (LRR)-, and pyrin domain (PYD)-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) form an inflammasome by assembling with apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) and procaspase-1 that plays a pivotal role in various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson diseases. We designed native peptides derived from the PYDs of NLRP3 and ASC based on their interfacial interaction to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome formation. Screening revealed that , derived from NLRP3, inhibits inflammasome activation.

In Situ-Forming, Adhesive, and Antioxidant Chitosan Hydrogels for Accelerated Wound Healing.

Biomacromolecules

State Key Laboratory of Separation Membranes and Membrane Processes, School of Material Science and Engineering, Tiangong University, Tianjin 300387, China.

Antioxidant hydrogels that can provide a moist environment and scavenge reactive oxygen species have emerged as highly potential wound dressing materials. In situ-forming and good tissue adhesiveness will make them more desirable, as they can fill the irregular wound defect, stick to the wound, and offer intimate contact with the wound. Herein, a hydrogel dressing combining in situ-forming, good tissue adhesiveness, and excellent antioxidant capabilities was developed by simply conjugating dopamine onto carboxymethyl chitosan.
