Comparison of models to predict incident chronic liver disease: a systematic review and external validation in Chinese adults.

BMC Med

December 2024

Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Peking University, 38 Xueyuan Road, Beijing, 100191, China.

Background: Risk prediction models can identify individuals at high risk of chronic liver disease (CLD), but there is limited evidence on the performance of various models in diverse populations. We aimed to systematically review CLD prediction models, meta-analyze their performance, and externally validate them in 0.5 million Chinese adults in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB).

Background: Pharmacological treatment is a cornerstone of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management, with general practitioners providing the most care. However, the lack of data on prescribing trends in initial pharmacotherapy in primary care hinders the understanding of how scientific and technical developments impact patient care and may also perpetuate suboptimal practices. Hence, this study aims to analyze trends in the initial pharmacological treatment of newly diagnosed COPD patients in Dutch primary care from 2010 to 2021.

Background: Traditional examinations of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries focus primarily on static assessments and lack the ability to evaluate dynamic knee stability. Hence, a dynamic scoring system for knee function is needed in clinical settings. This study aimed to propose a dynamic scoring system based on a large sample of normative six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) knee kinematics during gait, and validate its correlation with conventional outcome measurements in assessing ACL-injured knees.
