The Aim Of The Study: The aim of the study was to investigate the serum pro-inflammatory cytokine profile in patients with diagnosed endometriosis.

Material And Methods: The study included 160 women, who were divided in two study groups (Group I - endometriosis; Group 2 - healthy). We evaluated the serum levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, and IL-12, and of tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α) with the use of Human Multiplex Cytokine Panels.

Results: The serum level of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α is significantly higher in women with endometriosis compared to women free of disease, from the control group (mean 10.777, 183.027, and 131.326, respectively, compared to 3.039, 70.043, and 75.285, respectively; p = 0.002, p < 0.001, and p = 0.015, respectively). No significant differences in the serum levels of IL-5 and IL-12 were observed between the studied groups, and IL-7 had a very low detection rate.

Conclusions: Women with endometriosis have elevated levels of key pro-inflammatory cytokines, i.e. IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. At the same time, IL-1β and IL-6 could be used as predictors for endometriosis.

Background: The impact of protein-bound uremic toxins, specifically indoxyl sulfate (IS) on peritoneal dialysis (PD) complications remains controversial. This study aimed to explore the link between serum total IS (tIS) levels, proinflammatory cytokines in serum and peritoneal dialysis effluent (PDE), and PD technique survival.

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 84 patients were followed up for three years and analyzed.

Background/aim: For patients with unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC), carbon-ion radiotherapy (C-ion RT) can safely deliver higher doses than conventional photon therapy, increasing the potential for long-term survival. However, achieving meaningful improvements in survival rates requires reliable prognostic biomarkers to identify patients likely to benefit from treatment.

Patients And Methods: In this study, we measured plasma levels of soluble interleukin-6 receptor (sIL-6R) before C-ion RT and examined their association with the risk of distant metastasis (DM), local recurrence (LR), and overall survival (OS).

Background: Cognitive dysfunction is a symptom of depression (MDD). While the involvement of the immune system has long been suggested to contribute to the biological underpinnings of depression, less is known about the underpinnings of cognitive dysfunction. A recent genome-wide association study pointed to genes related to immune function to be relevant for cognitive processes in depression.

Acne is a prevalent and chronic inflammatory skin disease, and its treatment remains a huge clinical challenge. In the present study, we evaluated the therapeutic potential of combining the peptides RL-QN15 and OH-CATH30 for the treatment of acne in mice. Results indicated that the topical application of RL-QN15 and OH-CATH30 significantly inhibited the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes (P.

Background: Older adults experience chronic inflammation, which is associated with health conditions such as sarcopenia, and resulting in reduced functional capacity. Resistance training (RT) is a beneficial intervention for improving health in the elderly.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of RT on inflammatory biomarkers, body composition, and functional capacity in healthy adults aged 60 years and over.
