Background: The limitation in spatial resolution of bone scintigraphy, combined with the vast variations in size, location, and intensity of bone metastasis (BM) lesions, poses challenges for accurate diagnosis by human experts. Deep learning-based analysis has emerged as a preferred approach for automating the identification and delineation of BM lesions. This study aims to develop a deep learning-based approach to automatically segment bone scintigrams for improving diagnostic accuracy.

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severe pain disorder with an unclear pathophysiology. Biomarkers offer opportunities to enhance diagnosis, stratification, prognosis, and monitoring. Serum markers such as cytokines and microRNAs show potential but require further research.

Prostate cancer frequently metastasizes to bones; however, the detection of metastases can be challenging in rare locations. We present the case of a 76-year-old man with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with lymph nodal and skeletal metastases who underwent 177Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) therapy. Initial 18F-PSMA PET/CT scan acquired until the midthigh failed to identify metastases in the foot, but posttherapy 177Lu-PSMA scan revealed the presence of metastases in the navicular and cuboid bones of the right foot, which is a very rare finding.

Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is an aggressive EBV-associated non-Hodgkin lymphoma, most commonly arising from within the mucosa of the upper aerodigestive tract, typically with nasal presentation. Here, we present an interesting case of a 36-year-old man with ENKTCL with an atypical pattern of disease progression despite 3 cycles of SMILE chemotherapy. Restaging 18F-FDG PET/CT demonstrated widespread uptake within the skeletal musculature in a distribution concerning for a paraneoplastic polymyositis.

a new projector, orthogonal-distance ray-tracer varying-full width at half maximum (OD-RT-VF), was developed to model a shift-variant elliptical point-spread function (PSF) response to improve the image quality (IQ) of a preclinical dual-rotation PET system.the OD-RT-VF projector models different FWHM values of the PSF in multiple directions, using half-height and half-width tube-of-response (ToR) values. The OD-RT-VF method's performance was evaluated against the original OD-RT method and a ToR model with constant response.
