Airway management in pediatric patients presenting for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy may prove challenging given the enlarged upper airway structures. Video Laryngoscopy (VL) can be very helpful but it does not come without risks. In this case report, we report an unfavorable outcome of VL in a pediatric patient with adenotonsillar hypertrophy.

Increasing evidence suggests that interlocutors use visual communicative signals to form predictions about unfolding utterances, but there is little data on the predictive potential of facial signals in conversation. In an online experiment with virtual agents, we examine whether facial signals produced by an addressee may allow speakers to anticipate the response to a question before it is given. Participants (n = 80) viewed videos of short conversation fragments between two virtual humans.

In response, based on three attention networks: alerting, orienting, and executive attention, we examined the development of attention functions at 42 months (not corrected for prematurity) as a follow-up study of VLBW ( = 23) and normal birth weight (NBW: = 48) infants.
Method: The alerting and orienting attention networks were examined through an overlap task with or without warning signal.

Background: Cell concentration in body fluid is an important factor for clinical diagnosis. The traditional method involves clinicians manually counting cells under microscopes, which is labor-intensive. Automated cell concentration estimation can be achieved using flow cytometers; however, their high cost limits accessibility.

Background And Purpose: Atypical posterior canal (pc) benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) may be caused by cupulolithiasis (cu), short arm canalithiasis (ca), or jam. The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical presentation and differential diagnosis of pc-BPPV-cu and short arm canalithiasis.
Methods: This retrospective observation study identified persons with atypical pc-BPPV based on history and findings from four positional tests.

Climate change increases drought risk to agriculture and impacts both food nutrient content and overall food security. Metabolomics is one way to observe and quantify the impacts of drought on grain and other agricultural products. The identified metabolites may allow for the identification of the biochemical response that allows the plant to tolerate stressful environments.
