AI Article Synopsis

  • The authors detail a case where gold salts caused both liver problems (cholestasis) and lung inflammation (lymphocytic alveolitis), confirmed through medical tests.
  • This case adds to the limited knowledge on how gold compounds can affect both the liver and lungs.
  • It is noted as the third instance documented in medical literature of such dual health issues related to gold compounds.

Article Abstract

The authors describe the association of gold salt-induced cholestasis and lymphocytic alveolitis proved by liver biopsy and broncho-alveolar lavage. To our knowledge this is the third case report on the combination of liver disease and pulmonary infiltration induced by gold compounds.

Introduction: Hyperthermia is an established adjunct in multimodal cancer treatments, with mechanisms including cell death, immune modulation, and vascular changes. Traditional hyperthermia applications are resource-intensive and often associated with patient morbidity, limiting their clinical accessibility. Gold nanorods (GNRs) offer a precise, minimally invasive alternative by leveraging near-infrared (NIR) light to deliver targeted hyperthermia therapy (THT).

Gold(I)-Catalyzed 2-Deoxy-β-glycosylation via 1,2-Alkyl/Arylthio Migration: Synthesis of Velutinoside A Pentasaccharide.

2-Deoxy-β-glycosides are essential components of natural products and pharmaceuticals; however, the corresponding 2-deoxy-β-glycosidic bonds are challenging to chemically construct. Herein, we describe an efficient catalytic protocol for synthesizing 2-deoxy-β-glycosides via either IPrAuNTf-catalyzed activation of a unique 1,2--positioned C2--propargyl xanthate (OSPX) leaving group or (PhO)PAuNTf-catalyzed activation of a 1,2--C2--alkynylbenzoate (OABz) substituent of the corresponding thioglycosides. These activation processes trigger 1,2-alkyl/arylthio-migration glycosylation, enabling the synthesis of structurally diverse 2-deoxy-β-glycosides under mild reaction conditions.

Ligand-induced changes in the electrocatalytic activity of atomically precise Au nanoclusters.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Chemical Theory and Mechanism, Chongqing University Chongqing 401331 China

Atomically precise gold nanoclusters have shown great promise as model electrocatalysts in pivotal electrocatalytic processes such as the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CORR). Although the influence of ligands on the electronic properties of these nanoclusters is well acknowledged, the ligand effects on their electrocatalytic performances have been rarely explored. Herein, using [Au(SR)] nanoclusters as a prototype model, we demonstrated the importance of ligand hydrophilicity hydrophobicity in modulating the interface dynamics and electrocatalytic performance.

Gold-Cerium bimetallic Star-Shaped nanoplatform for synergistic tumor therapy with nanozyme Catalytic/Photothermal/Chemotherapy.

J Colloid Interface Sci

The Education Ministry Key Lab of Resource Chemistry, Joint International Research Laboratory of Resource Chemistry, Ministry of Education, Shanghai Frontiers Science Center of Biomimetic Catalysis, and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Functional Materials, College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai 200234 China. Electronic address:

A gold-cerium bimetallic asteroid nanoplatform (CeO@GNSs/Myr-HA) was obtained by electrostatically adsorbing ultra-small cerium dioxide (CeO) onto gold nanostars (GNSs) and further loading myricetin (Myr) and hyaluronic acid (HA). This nanoplatform exhibited three types of enzymatic properties-that is, GOD (glucose-oxidase), POD (peroxidase) and GSH-Ox (glutathione oxidase) mimicking catalytic activities. These enzymatic properties work together to effectively induce apoptosis in tumor cells.
