The generation of neuronal morphology requires transport vesicles originating from the Golgi apparatus (GA) to deliver specialized components to the axon and dendrites. Drosophila Arfaptin is a membrane-binding protein localized to the GA that is required for the growth of the presynaptic nerve terminal. Here we provide biochemical, cellular and genetic evidence that the small GTPase Arl1 and the guanine-nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) Gartenzwerg are required for Arfaptin function at the Golgi during synapse growth. Our data define a new signaling pathway composed of Arfaptin, Arl1, and Garz, required for the generation of normal synapse morphology.

The TRAPP (TRAnsport Protein Particle) protein complex is a multi-subunit complex involved in vesicular transport between intracellular compartments. The TRAPP complex plays an important role in endoplasmic reticulum-to-Golgi and Golgi-to-plasma membrane transport, as well as autophagy. TRAPP complexes comprise a core complex, TRAPPI, and the association of peripheral protein subunits to make two complexes, known as TRAPPII and TRAPPIII, which act as Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factors (GEFs) of Rab11 and Rab1, respectively.

: Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) removes coagulation factors and leads to depletion coagulopathy. The aim of the study was to compare hemostasis between TPE procedures without coagulation factor replacement (electrolyte group), the partial replacement of fibrinogen with fibrinogen concentrates (fibrinogen group) and partial coagulation factors replacement with fresh frozen plasma (partial FFP group). : A total of 73 TPE procedures in patients with fibrinogen levels 1-2 g/L were divided into three study groups depending on clinically estimated bleeding risk.

Few studies are concerned with the effect of the conjugat protein on the bioactivities of the abalone gonad polysaccharide (AGP). In this study, a series of treatments, including raw material (female and male) defatting, extraction temperature (25-121 °C), proteolysis, ultrafiltration, and ethanol precipitation, was conducted to investigate the role of the conjugate protein on AGP anticoagulant activity. All AGP extracts significantly prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and thrombin time (TT).

Background/objectives: Axonal Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2 (CMT2) accounts for 24% of Hereditary Motor/Sensory Peripheral Neuropathies. CMT2 type GG, due to four distinct heterozygous mutations in the Golgi brefeldin A resistant guanine nucleotide exchange factor 1 () gene (OMIM 606483), was described in seven cases from four unrelated families with autosomal dominant inheritance. It is characterized by slowly progressive distal muscle weakness and atrophy, primarily affecting the lower limbs.

The quantum Zeno effect (QZE) is widely employed in quantum engineering due to the issue of frequent measurements freezing a quantum system. In this study, the quantum Zeno factor is introduced to characterize the quantum Zeno capacity of a quantum system. The quantum Zeno factor reveals that the quantum Zeno effect is dependent on the evolution mode of quantum states, which is semi-irrelevant to conventional energy uncertainty and extends the QZE domain.
