Complex diseases are defined to be determined by multiple genetic and environmental factors alone as well as in interactions. To analyze interactions in genetic data, many statistical methods have been suggested, with most of them relying on statistical regression models. Given the known limitations of classical methods, approaches from the machine-learning community have also become attractive. From this latter family, a fast-growing collection of methods emerged that are based on the Multifactor Dimensionality Reduction (MDR) approach. Since its first introduction, MDR has enjoyed great popularity in applications and has been extended and modified multiple times. Based on a literature search, we here provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of these suggested methods. The methods are described in detail, and the availability of implementations is listed. Most recent approaches offer to deal with large-scale data sets and rare variants, which is why we expect these methods to even gain in popularity.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) show great promise for microwave absorption (MA) due to their excellent electrical conductivity and lightweight properties, which are conferred by the one dimensional hollow tubular structure. However, the ambiguous intrinsic motivations behind the formation of CNTs and the intricate growth processes have resulted in a lack of a systematic methodology for precisely controlling their electromagnetic properties. Herein, a flexible CNTs regulation strategy is designed to develop, with the core focus being the directional growth of carbon atoms and the differential catalysis of metal sources.

To achieve a more precise delineation of ecosystem sensitivity control areas, this study examines the Mentougou District in Beijing and introduces the Ecosystem Sensitivity Control Area Classification Method (ESCACM). This novel approach combines single-factor sensitivity analysis, multi-factor comprehensive sensitivity assessments, and strategies for zoning based on various ecological scenarios. Due to the multi-factor coupling effect, the rule of interlayer friction in low-dimensional homogeneous thin-wall shell structures is still unclear. Double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) having a typical low-dimensional homogeneous thin-wall shell structure are selected for this study. The interlayer friction of numerous chiral DWCNTs is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations to systematically analyze and understand the coupling mechanisms of various factors in interlayer friction.
