Katydids (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) from the Iguau National Park, Brazil.

Zootaxa

May 2022

Programa de Ps-Graduao em Biodiversidade Neotropical, Instituto Latino-Americano de Cincias da Vida e da Natureza, Universidade Federal da Integrao Latino-Americana, Avenida Tarqunio Joslin dos Santos n. 1000, Foz do Iguau, PR, Brazil.

Katydids were surveyed in the Iguau National Park (ParNa Iguau), the largest preserve of the Interior Atlantic Forest in Brazil. Sampling was carried out in three different areas of the ParNa Iguau, including its two predominant phytophysiognomies (Seasonal Semidecidual Forest and Mixed Ombrophilous Forest), and consisted of diurnal and nocturnal active searching for katydids and also using light traps. After collected, specimens were reared until adulthood in order to record their calling songs.

Species of Brachycephalus has been having taxonomical issues due its morphological similarity and genetic conservatism. Herein, we describe a new species of Brachycephalus from the south Mantiqueira mountain range and semidecidual forests in the municipalities of Mogi das Cruzes, Campinas and Jundiaí, state of São Paulo, Brazil, based on an integrative approach. It can be distinguished from all species of the B.

Data on leaf structural, physiological and nutritional characteristics of species co-occurring in restinga and semidecidual seasonal forest ecosystems.

Data Brief

June 2020

Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro, Laboratório de Biologia Celular e Tecidual, Centro de Biociências e Biotecnologia. Brazil.

This paper presents additional data on the leaf structural, physiological and nutritional characteristics of three species ( e ), co-occurring in restinga and semideciduous seasonal forest (forest). The data of the leaf structural, physiological and nutritional characteristics were obtained from the three species to identify possible adaptive strategies that could explain the co-occurrence of these species in the restinga and forest. In addition, this data can help identify key functional traits in the plant community of restinga and forests that can be employed in the reestablishment of ecological and edaphic processes in these ecosystems.

April 2015

Laboratório de Genética Vegetal, Departamento de Genética, Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brasil

Studies of genetic diversity in plant species present in the remaining fragments of the Atlantic Forest are very important for understanding their resilience to such a degraded ecosystem. We analyzed the genetic diversity of 3 populations of the high-density understory species Metrodorea nigra St. Hill.
