  • The microwave method also leads to more than double the product yields compared to traditional preparation techniques.

Article Abstract

A microwave-assisted method for the preparation of a wide color range of 2,3,3-trimethylindolenine-based squaraines and their intermediates is described. This practical approach allows the rapid preparation of both symmetrical and nonsymmetrical squaraine dyes, reducing reaction time from days to minutes with more than 2-fold improvement in product yields when compared to conventional methods.

We herein report the efficient synthesis of peptide-benzazepine conjugates from Lys-based peptides and acroleins via Rh(III)-catalyzed double C-H activation. This reaction features mild reaction conditions, broad scope, high atom and step economies, and excellent chemo- and site selectivity. The synthetic utility of this strategy is further demonstrated by scale-up experiments and product derivatizations, including diverse late-stage ligations based on the aldehyde moiety.

Nano-sized high-entropy materials (HEMs) recently received more attention to researchers due to their superior electrochemical catalytic properties. HEMs comprise at least five elements with or without metals and are synthesized through solid-state reactions and solution-mediated techniques. The presence of many elements in these HEMs result in a high mixing entropy and facilitates the formation of stable solid solutions in fundamental crystal structures.

Catalytic evaluation of microwave-assisted copper cobaltite oxide (CuCoO) for propane oxidation.

Attainment of a pristine copper cobaltite (CuCoO) phase by a fast and easy microwave (MW) assisted method is presented in this paper. The successful synthesis was supported by a series of characterization techniques, which confirmed the presence of a single phase and a possible inverted spinel crystal structure. Furthermore, catalytic performance evaluation of CuCoO in propane oxidation demonstrated its selectivity towards carbon dioxide (CO) formation, with negligible propanol production.

Carbon dots are a subset of carbon nanomaterials with fluorescent properties that render them attractive for various potential applications such as bioimaging and sensing. The past years saw significant progress being made in the understanding of the formation and the underlying fluorescent property. Nevertheless, efforts are still necessary to unravel the formation of carbon dots and the origin of their luminescence, especially for new types of precursor material such as polycyclic aromatic compounds.

Searching for natural alternatives to replace environmentally harmful chemical reagents in analysis is just as crucial as finding easily accessible analytical tools. To reinforce these concepts, this study proposes a simple spectrofluorometric approach using natural carbon quantum dots (n-CQDs) as fluorescence probes for sensitive and environmentally friendly measurement of molnupiravir, an antiviral drug that was initially developed for influenza and has demonstrated potential efficacy against COVID-19. n-CQDs were synthesized using garlic peels (GP), a waste material, via a microwave-assisted method.
