This study presents a 28-year-old infertile male who was referred to the cytogenetic laboratory for chromosomal analysis after 4 years of regular unprotected intercourse in whom non-obstructive azoospermia was revealed. Standard cytogenetic G-banding was performed on metaphase spreads and a de-novo karyotype 46,X,der(Y)(q11.22;p11.3) was identified. This analysis was followed by flourescence in-situ hybridization(FISH) and array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH). Finally, the patient's karyotype was identified as 46,X,der(Y)(qter→q11.221::p11.31→qter).ish der(Y) (qter+,pter-,SHOX+,SRY+,Ycen+,DYZ3+;DYZ1+,qter+).arrYq11.221q12(14,448,863-59,288,511) x2, Yp11.32p11.31(104,062-266,388) x0. It is proposed that de-novo derivative monocentric Y chromosome with duplicated region Y qter→q11.221::p11.31→qter with partial deletion of Yp PAR1 region most probably can perturb the conjugation of sex chromosomes during first meiotic division of spermatogenic arrested differentiation (development).

Protein-activated kinases mediate spine morphogenesis and synaptic plasticity. PAK3 is part of the p21-activated kinases (PAKs) family of Ras-signaling serine/threonine kinases. Pathogenic variants in the X-linked gene PAK3 have been described in patients with neurodevelopmental syndromes.

Background: ALG8-congenital disorder of glycosylation (ALG8-CDG) is a rare inherited metabolic disorder leading to severe multisystem manifestations, with no reported prenatal patients to date.

Methods: We describe two fetuses from a single family with ALG8-CDG presenting with prenatal hydrops, undergoing comprehensive prenatal ultrasound, umbilical cord blood biochemistry, autopsy, placental pathology, and genetic testing.

Results: Prenatal ultrasound revealed fetal hydrops, skeletal anomalies, cardiac developmental abnormalities, cataracts, echogenic kidneys and bowel, oligohydramnios, choroid plexus cysts, and intrauterine growth restriction.

DUO1 Activated Zinc Finger (AtDAZ) protein role in the generative cell body morphogenesis.

Plant Mol Biol

National Key Laboratory for Tropical Crop Breeding, Tropical Crop Genetic Resources Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Sanya, Haikou, 572024/571101, Hainan, China.

Arabidopsis MYB transcription factor, AtDUO1 regulates generative cell body (GC) morphogenesis from round to semi and fully elongated forms before pollen mitosis-II (PM II). It was hypothesised that DUO1 might regulate morphogenesis through any of its direct target genes or components of the DUO1-DAZ1 network. The developmental analysis of plants harbouring T-DNA insertions in some DUO1 target genes using light and fluorescence microscopy revealed abnormal GC morphogenesis only in daz1 and daz2, but gcs1, trm16, mapkkk10, mapkkk20, tet11, and tip1 all undergo normal elongation indicating that these target genes have no important roles in morphogenesis or may be redundant.

C3aR1-Deletion Delays Retinal Degeneration in a White-Light Damage Mouse Model.

Laboratory for Experimental Immunology of the Eye, Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Cologne, University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany.

Purpose: In the aging retina, persistent activation of microglia is known to play a key role in retinal degenerative diseases like age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Furthermore, dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway is generally accepted as the main driver for AMD disease progression and microglia are important producers of local complement and are equipped with complement receptors themselves. Here, we investigate the involvement of anaphylatoxin signaling, predominantly on Iba1+ cell activity, in light-induced retinal degeneration as a model for dry AMD, using anaphylatoxin receptor knockout (KO) mice.

The spread of African swine fever virus (ASFV) has led to major economic losses to pork worldwide. In Russia, there are no developed or registered vaccines against ASFV genotype II, which is associated with numerous ASFV outbreaks in populations of domestic pigs and wild boars in the country. We introduced deletions of the six MGF360 and MGF505 genes of the ASFV virulent Stavropol_01/08 strain, isolated in Russia in 2008.
