A study is presented of 52 patients with disseminated pulmonary lesions. Among them: histiocytosis X--17, alveolar microlithiasis--5, pulmonary phospholipoproteinosis--7, idiopathic hemosiderosis--14, primary pulmonary amyloidosis--1, primary diffuse lung tumours--8. All patients were subjected to complex bronchological examination including use of different biopsy transbronchial methods as well as open biopsy of the lung. The diagnostic value of the employed bronchial biopsies is discussed. A diagnostic algorithm of rarely met pulmonary disseminations has been developed. Recommendations on the use of different instrumental methods are formulated.

Responses of biological characteristics and detoxification enzymes in the fall armyworm to methoxyfenozide stress.

J Econ Entomol

January 2025

Hubei Engineering Technology Center of Forewarning and Management of Agricultural and Forestry Pests, Yangtze University, Jingzhou 434000, PR China.

Methoxyfenozide is an insecticide with a unique mode of action on the insect ecdysone receptor and has been registered for the control of insect pests all over the world. In the present work, Spodoptera frugiperda was exposed to sublethal and lethal concentrations of methoxyfenozide to determine its impact on specific biological traits, metabolic enzyme activity, and the expression of detoxification enzymes. The result showed that 72-h posttreatment with LC50 and LC70 of methoxyfenozide significantly reduced the fecundity (eggs/female) of the F0 generation compared to those of the control group.

Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin with sequencing (ATAC-seq) is a powerful, high-throughput technique for assessing chromatin accessibility and understanding epigenomic regulation. Neutrophils, as a crucial leukocyte type in immune responses, undergo substantial chromatin architectural changes during differentiation and activation, which significantly impact the gene expression necessary for their functions. ATAC-seq has been instrumental in uncovering key transcription factors in neutrophil maturation, revealing pathogen-specific epigenomic signatures, and identifying therapeutic targets for autoimmune diseases.

Despite the exponential increase in the incidence rate of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), effective therapies for the disorder are still limited. According to vast clinical observations, the pathogeneses of ASD and Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) share a great deal of similarities. This serves as a prompt to investigate, in this study, whether patients with ADHD are at a higher risk for ASD, which is significant for disease prevention.

Secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH) is a rare, rapidly progressive and highly lethal disease. This retrospective cohort study aims to analyze the factors influencing the mortality risk in adult patients with sHLH, which are instrumental to improving our understanding of the high mortality risks associated with sHLH. This study included 85 patients diagnosed with sHLH who were admitted and treated in the Department of Emergency, Peking University People's Hospital between April 2015 and July 2023.

A review of uranium (U) elemental detection methods.

Anal Methods

January 2025

National Key Laboratory of Uranium Resources Exploration-Mining and Nuclear Remote Sensing, Beijing, 100029, China.

With the increasing demand for energy, nuclear energy has been developing rapidly. The quantitative detection and qualitative identification of uranium (U) are of great significance for the comprehensive and efficient use of U resources and the control of nuclear and radioactive substances. In this study, the detection of U is divided into liquid sample detection, solid sample detection, gas sample detection, and industrial detection from the perspectives of the sample state and detection environment.
