In this manuscript, the effects of two extracts from were tested: (a) an extract titrated to 49.7% of andrographolide and obtained from leaves of the plant: (b) the pure andrographolide titrated to 99%. The extracts were dissolved in 1-butanol and tested on tumor lines (MCF7 and SH-SY5Y) and the non-tumor line (Huvec) to understand the effects on cell proliferation.

A Simple One-Pot Method for the Synthesis of BiFeO/BiFeO Heterojunction for High-Performance Photocatalytic Degradation Applications.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

Joint International Research Laboratory of Information Display and Visualization, School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing 210096, China.

This study presents a facile one-pot synthesis method to fabricate BiFeO-BiFeO-BiO heterojunction photocatalysts with controllable compositions and pure phases. Three different binary heterojunctions (BiFeO/BiFeO, BiFeO/BiO, and BiFeO/BiO) and a ternary BiFeO/BiFeO/BiO heterojunction were formed, all exhibiting significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) and phenol under visible light irradiation, outperforming the individual compositions. Notably, the BiFeO/BiFeO heterojunction achieved the highest degradation efficiency (93.

Curcumin has a wide range of application prospects, with various bioactivities in the food industry and in the biomedical field. However, curcumin has poor water solubility and is sensitive to pH, light and temperature. In this study, curcumin-chitooligosaccharide (CUR-COS) complexes were prepared via mechanochemical methods, and the CUR-COS complex was more soluble after freeze-drying (up to 862-fold greater than that of curcumin).

Biomass valorization and bio-based material development are of major research interest following the spirit of the circular economy. Aloe vera cultivation is a widespread agricultural activity oriented toward supplement production because of its well-known antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Aloe vera juice production also produces a large amount of biomass byproducts that are usually landfilled.
