In the title binuclear complex, [Li2(C27H36N2)2I2], the unique Li(I) cation is coordinated by two iodide anions and one yl-idene C atom from a 1,3-bis-(2,6-diiso-propyl-phen-yl)imidazol-2-yl-idene ligand in a distorted trigonal-planar geometry. The two symmetry-related iodide anions bridge two Li(I) cations, forming an inversion dimer in which the Li2I2 plane is nearly perpendicular to the imidazol-2-yl-idene ring, with a dihedral angle of 85.5 (3)°. No hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal.

Ultrarapid and efficient sequestration of iodate and iodide with a pillar[5]arene-based cationic polymeric network.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Radiation Physics and Technology of Ministry of Education, Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, College of Chemistry, Sichuan University, Chengdu, 610064, China.

A macrocycle-based approach to the construction of a cationic polymeric network with pillar[5]arene as the node for efficient sequestration of hazardous IO and I is presented. Ultrafast kinetics ( 4 min) were achieved along with excellent adsorption capacities for both IO (456 mg g) and I (370 mg g), good selectivity, and outstanding reusability. This work showcases the merits of pillar[5]arene as nodes in cationic adsorption materials in the removal of anionic iodine species.

The behavior of triple-cation mixed halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) under ultrashort laser pulse irradiation at varying fluences is investigated, with a focus on local heating effects observed in femtosecond transient absorption (TA) studies. The carrier cooling time constant is found to increase from 230 fs at 2 µJ cm⁻ to 1.3 ps at 2 mJ cm⁻ while the charge population decay accelerates from tens of nanoseconds to the picosecond range within the same fluence range.

All-solid-state Li-S batteries with fast solid-solid sulfur reaction.

Nature

January 2025

Beijing Key Laboratory for Theory and Technology of Advanced Battery Materials, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Peking University, Beijing, China.

With promises for high specific energy, high safety and low cost, the all-solid-state lithium-sulfur battery (ASSLSB) is ideal for next-generation energy storage. However, the poor rate performance and short cycle life caused by the sluggish solid-solid sulfur redox reaction (SSSRR) at the three-phase boundaries remain to be solved. Here we demonstrate a fast SSSRR enabled by lithium thioborophosphate iodide (LBPSI) glass-phase solid electrolytes (GSEs).

Graphene is a single-layered sp-hybridized carbon allotrope, which is impermeable to all atomic entities other than hydrogen. The introduction of defects allows selective gas permeation; efforts have been made to control the size of these defects for higher selectivity. Permeation of entities other than gases, such as ions, is of fundamental scientific interest because of its potential application in desalination, detection and purification.

Three-dimensional measurement of the depth of invasion in oral squamous cell carcinoma samples using Lugol's iodine-enhanced micro-computed tomography: an original study.

J Appl Oral Sci

January 2025

Nanjing University, Research Institute of Stomatology, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing Stomatological Hospital, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma Orthognathic Plastic Surgery, Nanjing, China.

Objectives: Depth of invasion (DOI) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) guides treatment and prognosis but lacks three-dimensional (3D) insight. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of Lugol's iodine-enhanced micro-computed tomography (CT) for the 3D measurement of DOI in OSCC samples.

Methodology: In total, 50 in vitro OSCC samples from Nanjing Stomatological Hospital (July 2022 to January 2024) were subjected to micro-CT imaging with a slice thickness of 50 μm following 3% Lugol iodine staining for 12 h, followed by pathological examination and staining.
