Introduction: This is the first case of total rectal and anal canal necrosis following uterine arteries embolization described in the literature.

Presentation Of Case: A 34 year-old woman suffered from massive Post Partum Haemorrhage. A vascular surgeon performed bilateral uterine arteries embolization with absorbable gelatin sponge which did not allowed a sufficient control of the bleeding, leading to hysterectomy. Perineal gangrene was diagnosed on day 10 on CT scan, pelvic MRI, and rectosigmoidoscopy. The etiology was a rectal ischaemia going from the level of the second sacral vertebra to the anal canal. Drainage and a lateral laparoscopic sigmoidostomy were associated to antibiotherapy.

Discussion: Ornan et al. described complications of bilateral uterine arteries embolization in a serie of 28 patients with post partum haemorrhage. One of these patients presented a necrotic segment of small bowel 7 days after the embolization, she required a surgery. The hypothesis for these kinds of complications is the migration of the gelatine sponge particles.

Conclusion: This rare but life-threatening complication has never been reported before and should be known when considering perineal pain after bilateral uterine arteries embolization.

This prospective observational study aimed to compare abdominal hysterectomy (AH), vaginal hysterectomy (VH), and total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) in terms of oxidative stress (OS) by measuring serum levels of total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI). Of the 3 groups, namely, AH, VH, and TLH, 22 patients were enrolled in each to investigate the aim of the study mentioned above. Patient demographics, clinical and surgical characteristics, and preoperative and postoperative (0th and 24th hours) serum TAS, TOS, and OSI levels were investigated.

Turner syndrome is the most common sex chromosomal abnormality in about 1:2000-2500 live female births. While short stature and delayed puberty are the most common presentations of patients, atypical findings can also be seen. In this article, we present the Turner twins, who were diagnosed during inguinal hernia surgery when bilateral uterus and ovaries were found within the hernia sac.

Differences/disorders of sex development (DSDs) are a diverse group of congenital conditions that result in disagreement between an individual's sex chromosomes, gonads, and/or anatomical sex. The 46, XY DSD group is vast and includes various conditions caused by genetic variants, hormonal imbalances, or abnormal sensitivity to testicular hormones, leading to varying degrees of under-virilization. A 19-year-old phenotypically normal female from Kakamega, Kenya, presented with primary amenorrhea.

This case reports a 44-year-old female who presented to the gynecologic oncology clinic status post robotic-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy with intraperitoneal unprotected power morcellation in 2012, with an incidental finding of three conglomerate solid masses in the abdomen above the uterus, with each mass measuring approximately 15.5 cm. The patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy where multiple masses greater than 10 cm were found scattered throughout the abdominal cavity.
