Unlabelled: To construct a three-dimensional finite element model comparing between one-step and two-step methods in torque control of anterior teeth during space closure.

Methods: Dicom image data including maxilla and upper teeth were obtained though cone-beam CT. A three-dimensional model was set up and the maxilla, upper teeth and periodontium were separated using Mimics software. The models were instantiated using Pro/Engineer software, and Abaqus finite element analysis software was used to simulate the sliding mechanics by loading 1.47 Nforce on traction hooks with different heights (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 mm, respectively) in order to compare the initial displacement between six maxillary anterior teeth (one-step method) and four maxillary anterior teeth (two-step method).

Results: When moving anterior teeth bodily, initial displacements of central incisors in two-step method and in one-step method were 29.26 × 10⁻⁶ mm and 15.75 × 10⁻⁶ mm, respectively. The initial displacements of lateral incisors in two-step method and in one-step method were 46.76 × 10(-6) mm and 23.18 × 10(-6) mm, respectively. Under the same amount of light force, the initial displacement of anterior teeth in two-step method was doubled compared with that in one-step method. The root and crown of the canine couldn't obtain the same amount of displacement in one-step method.

Conclusions: Two-step method could produce more initial displacement than one-step method. Therefore, two-step method was easier to achieve torque control of the anterior teeth during space closure.

Background: In dentistry, local anesthetic is frequently used to manage pain throughout several phases of dental treatments, including tooth extraction. The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of two techniques for controlling pain during mandibular exodontia (tooth extraction), specifically focusing on the pain experienced during injection and extraction of mandibular anterior and premolars teeth. The two techniques being compared are the intraligamentary injection technique (ILI) and the incisive nerve block technique (INB).

Objectives: WNT10A mutations are associated with tooth agenesis. This study aimed to assess the clinical outcomes of dental implants in patients carrying WNT10A mutations with different molecular statuses and phenotypes over a long-term follow-up period.

Materials And Methods: Patients with tooth agenesis were screened by whole-exome sequencing (WES) from January 2010 to September 2023.

Department of Surgical Sciences, Pediatrics and Gynecology, University of Verona, P.le L.A.Scuro, 10, 37134 Verona, Italy.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the color stability of Class V anterior restorations with universal composite after professional bleaching using a spectrophotometer.

Material And Methods: Class V cavities were prepared and restored with universal composite in twenty-eight extracted anterior teeth. One week after restoration, color analysis was performed using the spectrophotometer.

Objectives: To evaluate changes in gingival recessions (GR) in periodontitis patients over ten years of supportive periodontal therapy (SPT) and to assess the impact of GR on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).

Materials And Methods: Fifty-one patients with over ten years of SPT were followed up (V1) with complete periodontal status including periodontal probing depth (PPD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) at 6 sites/tooth, oral hygiene indices, and recession status. Patient anamnesis, oral hygiene habits, and orthodontic history were assessed.

Effects of tongue tamers and customized bonded spurs as an early treatment of anterior open bite: a randomized clinical study.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Health, and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Tanta University, Tanta, 31527, Egypt.

Background: Anterior open bite is a challenging condition for pediatric dentists and orthodontists as it causes aesthetic, speech, feeding, and psychological problems; this emphasizes the need for early diagnosis and interception of this malocclusion.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of prefabricated metal-bonded tongue tamers and customized bonded spurs in the early treatment of anterior open bite.

Materials And Methods: A sample of seventy-five children aged 7-9 years were assigned into three groups in which anterior open bite was treated using tongue tamers (group-I), customized composite bonded spurs(group-II), and conventional fixed palatal cribs (group-III).
