Background: The COVID-19 pandemic prompted significant shifts to teleworking, raising questions about potential impacts on employee wellbeing. This study examined the association between self-reported changes to teleworking frequency (relative to before the pandemic) and two indicators of occupational burnout: emotional exhaustion and professionally diagnosed burnout.

Methods: Data were derived from two samples from a digital cohort study based in Geneva, Switzerland: one population-based, and one from a sample of workers who were likely mobilized in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients treated with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors are at an increased risk for tuberculosis (TB) reactivation, necessitating baseline latent TB infection (LTBI) screening. However, evidence regarding the value of periodic LTBI screening in this population is limited. In this single-center retrospective chart review, we investigated the LTBI rate in HS patients treated with adalimumab or infliximab.

Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI) is a critical complication that significantly contributes to the morbidity and mortality of sepsis patients. This narrative review explores the complex and multifactorial pathophysiology of S-AKI, which involves hemodynamic alterations, microcirculatory dysfunction, endothelial damage, inflammatory responses, oxidative stress, and direct tubular injury. Conventional perspectives linking S-AKI primarily to reduced renal blood flow are now being reconsidered, with growing insights highlighting the significance of microcirculatory dysfunction and endothelial activation as key contributors.

Ongoing challenges in the provision of care, driven by growing care complexity and nursing shortages, prompt us to reconsider the basis for efficient division of nursing labour. In organising nursing work, traditionally the focus has been on identifying nursing tasks that can be delegated to other less expensive and less highly educated staff, in order to make best use of scarce resources. We argue that nursing care activities are connected and intertwined.
