Background: In the United States (US), transgender women of color experience cyclical, interlocking systems of structural and institutional oppression rooted in racism and transphobia, which fuel economic vulnerability. Together, cycles of intersecting racism, transphobia, and economic vulnerability create conditions that give rise to extreme HIV inequities among transgender women of color. Microeconomic interventions - designed to improve financial standing by increasing income generation and access to financial resources through entrepreneurship, cash transfers, and training - have the potential to address structural factors underlying HIV inequities.

The purpose of this viewpoint is to discuss the risks associated with offering clinic-backed payment plans, with a particular focus on financial risks. We provide a financial calculator tool that clinics can use with their financial information to make more informed decisions about whether implementing clinic-backed payment plans are viable for them. Realistic but hypothetical financial information for a clinic is used to simulate financial evaluations, including cash flow budget analysis, multivariate sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment to help clinics better understand these evaluations.

Gene fusion is a process through which two or more distinct genes are fused into a single chimeric gene. Unlike most harmful fusion genes in cancer cells, in this study, we first found that spermidine synthetase- (SPDS, catalyst of spermidine biosynthesis) and saccharopine reductase- (SR, catalyst of the penultimate step of lysine biosynthesis) encoding genes form a natural chimeric gene, , in . Through the cloning of full-length ORFs in different strains and the analysis of alternative splicing in developmental stages, has only one copy and unique transcript encoding chimeric SPDS-SR in .
