We discuss relaxation and aging processes in the one- and two-dimensional ABC models. In these driven diffusive systems of three particle types, biased exchanges in one direction yield a coarsening process characterized in the long-time limit by a logarithmic growth of ordered domains that take the form of stripes. From the time-dependent length, derived from the equal-time spatial correlator, and from the mean displacement of individual particles different regimes in the formation and growth of these domains can be identified. Analysis of two-times correlation and response functions reveals dynamical scaling in the asymptotic logarithmic growth regime as well as complicated finite-time and finite-size effects in the early and intermediate time regimes.

This work aims to provide a basis for the enhancement of fucoxanthin (FCX) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) biosynthesis in the microalga Phaeodactylum tricornutum using metabolomics and computational biology. To achieve this, both targeted (UHPLC and GC-FID) and untargeted (FTIR and NMR) analyses were conducted throughout various stages of cell cultivation. Targeted analyses revealed that EPA concentrations peaked at the end of the logarithmic growth phase, while fucoxanthin levels remained consistent from the onset of this phase through to the stationary phase.

The accumulation and discharge amount of coal gangue are substantial, occupying significant land resources over time. Utilizing coal gangue as subgrade filler can generate notable economic and social benefits. Coal gangue coarse-grained soil (CGSF) was used to conduct a series of large-scale vibration compaction tests and large-scale triaxial tests.

Background: Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) is a robust prognostic biomarker in patients with cardiovascular (CV) disease, and a better understanding of its clinical determinants is desirable. We aimed to study the associations between GDF-15 levels and in outpatients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD).
Methods: An explorative cross-sectional study (Study of Atherosclerosis in Vastmanland, Västerås, Sweden) included 439 outpatients with carotid or lower extremity PAD.

The morphology and kinetics of the crystal growth front have been poorly explored at the particle level. Here, we experimentally observe the crystal growth front in liquid with single-particle kinetics using colloid systems and reveal a surface layer of polymorphic crystal near the solid-solid transition when the two crystals form a low-energy coherent interface. The thickness of the surface crystal can exceed 50 particles and grows logarithmically with the temperature as approaching the solid-solid transition which follows premelting theory.

Diabetic macular edema (DMO) poses a significant risk to vision, primarily caused by the leakage of retinal vessels. Traditional treatments involve anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents and corticosteroids, though responses vary, necessitating frequent treatments. This retrospective study at a London-based tertiary eye hospital evaluates the efficacy of faricimab, a bispecific antibody inhibiting angiopoietin 2 (Ang-2) and VEGF-A, in treating DMO.
