The electrochemical behavior of thallium was studied on glassy carbon electrodes in sulfate solutions. Cyclic voltammetry was used to study the kinetics of the electrode processes and to determine the nature of the limiting step of the cathodic reduction of thallium ions. According to the dependence of current on stirring rate and scan rate, this process is diffusion limited. Chronocoulometry showed that the electrodeposition can be performed with a current efficiency of up to 96% in the absence of oxygen.

Prevalence and molecular characterisation of Balantioides coli in pigs raised in Italy.

Parasitol Res

January 2025

Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, Università Degli Studi Di Milano, Via Dell'Università, 6, 26900, Lodi, Italy.

Balantioides coli is the only ciliated protist of both human and veterinary interest and colonises the large intestine of several hosts, including humans and pigs. Given the scarcity of data on B. coli circulation in pigs in Italy, a study was planned to record its prevalence and genetic types and compare the analytical sensitivity of two copromicroscopic techniques.

The introduction of high-performance TLC (HPTLC) instrumentation that allows precise control of critical parameters has transformed the technique into an efficient and rapid tool for analyzing various metabolites, namely lipids. Although mass spectrometry (MS) has largely replaced lipid analysis techniques over recent decades due to its comprehensive lipidome profiling capabilities, it typically lacks the rapidity and simplicity of TLC. HPTLC remains advantageous due to its ease of use, simpler data interpretation, and compatibility with complementary techniques.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the () SS18-50 (an isolate with favorable probiotic properties following space traveling) on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice. Male ICR mice were randomly assigned to one of six groups: a control group, a model group, and four intervention groups comprising the isolate (SS18-50-L and SS18-50-H) and the wild type (GS18-L and GS18-H) strains. The model group and the intervention groups were administered a 3.

Dual Strategies Based on Golgi Apparatus/Endoplasmic Reticulum Targeting and Anchoring for High-Efficiency siRNA Delivery and Tumor RNAi Therapy.

Endolysosomal degradation of small interfering RNA (siRNA) significantly reduces the efficacy of RNA interference (RNAi) delivered by nonviral systems. Leveraging Golgi apparatus/endoplasmic reticulum (Golgi/ER) transport can help siRNA bypass the endolysosomal degradation pathway, but this approach may also result in insufficient siRNA release and an increased risk of Golgi/ER-mediated exocytosis. To address these challenges, we developed two distinct strategies using a nanocomplex of cell-penetrating poly(disulfide)s and chondroitin sulfate, which enhances targeted internalization, Golgi transport, and rapid cytoplasmic release of loaded siRNA.
