Introduction: Practice administration education and experience during surgery residency are variable among residency programs. To better understand these issues, a survey of recent General Surgery residency (GS) graduates was compared with the results from a survey of GS program directors (PD).
Methods: All GS graduates completing residency from 2009 to 2013 (n = 5,512) were surveyed to assess opinions regarding the desire for more instruction during residency in practice administration. General surgeons were defined as those not pursuing fellowship training; specialist surgeons (SS) completed additional training after their GS residency. Separately, all GS residency PDs were surveyed regarding practice administration education in their programs.
Results: A total of 3,354 responded to the GS graduate survey (response rate = 61%). GS comprised 26% of the respondents. The vast majority of all respondents desired more training in practice administration. There were no significant differences in the degree to which instruction was desired among GS, SS, residency program type, or current practice setting. The GS PD response rate was 68% (171/252 programs). Only 28% of programs included practice administration in the residency curriculum.
Conclusion: Practice administration education is highly desired by GS and SS graduates. Our findings indicate a clear need for a curriculum in practice administration during residency.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of the Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services current times and work relative value units (wRVUs) for the perioperative work involved in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction by directly timing perioperative tasks as they occur in real time.
Methods: The RUC was contacted to obtain a list of perioperative tasks and the corresponding times allotted for the tasks involved in arthroscopically aided ACL reconstruction (Current Procedural Terminology code 29888). The tasks that occurred both inside and outside the operating room were timed by the attending physician as the event occurred.

Objective: This study aims to determine the internal and external factors affecting the attitudes of neonatal intensive care nurses toward evidence-based practices (EBP).
Methods: The population of this descriptive, cross-sectional, and relation-seeking multicenter study consisted of nurses working in 5 neonatal intensive care units located in 3 provinces of Türkiye. Data were collected using the Information Form, which included nurses' sociodemographic information and internal-external factors affecting evidence-based care practices, the Evidence-Based Nursing Attitude Questionnaire (EBNAQ).

The safety of a 2'--methoxyethyl antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) was investigated in Mauritius cynomolgus monkeys in a 41-week Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) toxicity study after multiple intrathecal (IT) administrations. Histopathological examination revealed ectopic formation of lymphoid follicles in the spinal cord (SC) at the injection site at all doses and the presence of granular material in neurons of the SC in high-dose animals. The granular material was seen in all the segments of the SC, but mainly in the lumbar segment and persisted at the end of the 26-week recovery period, while the lymphoid follicles showed a reversibility trend.

The rising incidence of noncommunicable diseases, combined with the costs of mitigating climate change, sovereign debt and regional conflicts, is undermining global health security and threatening progress towards achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. The negative impact of these polycrises is disproportionately borne by low- and middle-income countries, which have the highest disease burden and lowest health-care spending. Health digitalization is emerging as a promising countermeasure, accelerated by artificial intelligence (AI) software and quantum computing hardware.

Objectives: Disease-related malnutrition (DRM) presents in up to half of adults and one-third of children admitted to Canadian hospitals and significantly impacts health outcomes. Strategies to screen, diagnose and treat DRM exist but policy to facilitate implementation and sustainability are lacking. The purpose of this study was to explore gaps, opportunities, barriers and enablers for DRM policy in Canada.
