Unlabelled: Due to their glycolytic nature and limited vascularity, nucleus pulposus (NP) cells of the intervertebral disc and articular chondrocytes were long thought to have minimal reliance on mitochondrial function. Recent studies have challenged this long-held view and highlighted the increasingly important role of mitochondria in the physiology of these tissues. We investigated the role of mitochondrial fusion protein OPA1 in maintaining the spine and knee joint health in aging mice.

Smectite clay minerals have an outsize impact on the response of clay-rich media to common stimuli, such as hydration and ion exchange, motivating extensive effort to understand behaviors resulting from these processes such as swelling and exfoliation. Smectites are common and historic systems for investigating colloidal and interfacial phenomena, with two swelling regimes commonly identified across myriad clays: osmotic swelling at high water activity and crystalline swelling at low water activity. However, no current swelling model seamlessly spans the full ranges of water, salt and clay content encountered in natural or engineered settings.

Twenty-four Colombian Creole, Romney Marsh, Hampshire and Corriedale ewes raised under high-altitude conditions in a non-seasonal country were used to determine and to characterize the onset of puberty and of regularity ovarian function since the age of 3months. They underwent blood collection for determination of progesterone and monthly weight assessment. Oestrus was assessed daily by a teaser ram.

Aim: The present study was designed to demonstrate the autoligation (AL) of vas deferens and the excision-ligation (EL) technique to generate vasectomized rams to reduce the complications, operative time, and price of the vasectomy techniques.
Materials And Methods: A total of 12 healthy and mature Iraqi Awassi rams were used, which divided into two groups, six rams for each one. The former group was performed the EL technique while the latter group, the AL of vas deferens technique was used.
