Prognostic and Predictive Biomarkers of Oligometastatic NSCLC: New Insights and Clinical Applications.

JTO Clin Res Rep

December 2024

Department of Pulmonary Diseases, GROW Research Institute for Oncology and Reproduction, Maastricht University Medical Center+, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

This review discusses the current data on predictive and prognostic biomarkers in oligometastatic NSCLC and discusses whether biomarkers identified in other stages and widespread metastatic disease can be extrapolated to the oligometastatic disease (OMD) setting. Research is underway to explore the prognostic and predictive value of biological attributes of tumor tissue, circulating cells, the tumor microenvironment, and imaging findings as biomarkers of oligometastatic NSCLC. Biomarkers that help define true OMD and predict outcomes are needed for patient selection for oligometastatic treatment, and to avoid futile treatments in patients that will not benefit from locoregional treatment.

Task-modulated neural responses in scene-selective regions of the human brain.

Vision Res

December 2024

Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey; Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey; Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center and National Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. Electronic address:

The study of scene perception is crucial to the understanding of how one interprets and interacts with their environment, and how the environment impacts various cognitive functions. The literature so far has mainly focused on the impact of low-level and categorical properties of scenes and how they are represented in the scene-selective regions in the brain, PPA, RSC, and OPA. However, higher-level scene perception and the impact of behavioral goals is a developing research area.

Berbamine inhibits Pseudorabies virus in vitro and in vivo.

College of Animal Science and Technology, Anhui Agricultural University, Hefei, Anhui 230036, China; Joint Research Center for Food Nutrition and Health of IHM, Anhui Agricultural University, Hefei, China. Electronic address:

Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a significant pathogen that causes acute infectious diseases in pigs, resulting in considerable economic losses for the global pig industry. The lack of effective control measures and vaccines against the circulating variants of PRV highlights the pressing need for novel treatment strategies. In this study, a screening of a natural product library identified Berbamine as a promising compound that inhibits PRV replication, with a selectivity index of 17.

Antiplatelets before or during endovascular therapy after intravenous thrombolysis for atherothrombotic large vessel occlusion.

J Clin Neurosci

December 2024

Department of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, University of Tsukuba Hospital, Tsukuba, Japan; Department of Neurosurgery, Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan.

Re-occlusion and intravascular thrombus formation following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in stroke patients worsen clinical outcomes. Although early administration of antiplatelet therapy (APT) prevents these complications, current guidelines advise against using APT soon after intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), making the management of atherothrombotic large vessel occlusion (AT-LVO) difficult. We investigated the safety of early APT for acute AT-LVO treated with MT following IVT.

Chronic ischemia in moyamoya disease (MMD) impaired white matter microstructure and neural functional network. However, the coupling between cerebral blood flow (CBF) and functional connectivity and the association between structural and functional network are largely unknown. 38 MMD patients and 20 sex/age-matched healthy controls (HC) were included for T1-weighted imaging, arterial spin labeling imaging, resting-state functional MRI and diffusion tensor imaging.
