Objective: Globally, over 50% of the population is affected by , yet research on its prevalence and impact in patients with obesity undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is inconclusive. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of infection in individuals with obesity undergoing LSG, evaluate the percentage of postoperative staple-line leaks, and explore the potential link between infection and staple-line leaks.
Methods: This retrospective analysis assessed adult patients with class III obesity who underwent LSG between 2015 and 2020 at a tertiary care hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Background/objectives: Gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM) is considered an irreversible preneoplastic precursor for gastric adenocarcinoma in adults. However, its significance in children and the long-term outcome remain poorly understood.
Methods: All children diagnosed with GIM between 2000 and 2020 were identified at a large tertiary referral centre.

Background/objectives: Gastric cancer (GC) incidence remains high worldwide, and the survival rate is poor. GC develops from atrophic gastritis (AG), associated with () infection, passing through intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia steps. Since eradication does not exclude GC development, further investigations are needed.

Peptidoglycan is the basic structural polymer of the bacterial cell wall and maintains the shape and integrity of single cells. Despite years of research conducted on peptidoglycan's chemical composition, the microscopic elucidation of its nanoscopic architecture still needs to be addressed more thoroughly to advance knowledge on bacterial physiology. Apart from the model organism , ultrastructural imaging data on the murein architecture of Gram-negative bacteria is mostly missing today.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic potential of serum CXC chemokine ligand 5 (CXCL5) in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and to establish a prediction model for better diagnosis of CAG.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted, encompassing 570 cases of CAG patients admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who underwent gastroscopy and received pathologically confirmed diagnoses between June 2018 and June 2023. Additionally, 570 cases without CAG who underwent health checkups were included and classified into the control group.
