Background: The Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGFβ1) 869C/T polymorphism was associated with radiation pneumonitis (RP) susceptibility. However, the results remained controversial. Thus, a meta-analysis was conducted.
Methods: Relevant studies were systematically searched by using the NCBI, Medline, Web of Science and Embase databases. Summary odds ratios (ORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using random-effects models.
Results: There was a significant association between TGFβ1 869C/T polymorphism and RP susceptibility (OR=1.77; 95% CI, 1.27-2.47; P=0.0007).
Conclusion: This study suggested that TGFβ1 869C/T polymorphism was a risk factor of RP.

Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is characterized by chronic low-grade inflammation in which the effects of genetic factors is well established. The objective of our study is to explore an association of the 869C>T and 915G>C polymorphisms of the TGF-β1 gene with type 1 diabetic retinopathy in the Algerian population.
Patients And Methods: A case-control study was carried out in which the SNPs 869C>T and 915G>C of the TGF-β gene were analysed by the PCR-SSP technique.

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease, characterized by chronic inflammation, hyperplasia (swelling), tenderness, erosion of cartilage and bones in synovial joints. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is an important regulator of inflammation, and its polymorphism is implicated in several diseases. Therefore, the study was done to determine whether TGF-β1 C/T gene polymorphism was associated with RA in North Indian population.

Studies have been conducted to explore the association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) and head and neck cancer (HNC) susceptibility, however the findings are still inconclusive. Therefore, we conduct this meta-analysis to quantitatively assess the association. Embase and PubMed were searched for all eligible clinical studies.

The association between TGF-β1 +869C/T polymorphism and risk of fractures remained controversial. Therefore, we performed this meta-analysis to investigate this association. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Wangfang databases for studies before Aug 2014.
