Background And Objective: Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is a rare condition with varied symptomology and etiology. Less than one-third of patients with IPA present in the emergency department (ED) with the traditional triad of fever, back pain, and restricted hip motion (or limp), leading to delays in diagnosis and management. Acute liver failure is also a rare clinical presentation in the ED, being associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Previous studies, largely based on patient surveys, offer little data on improving diagnosis. In 2017, the South Wales NET service underwent a nationally commissioned, systematic transformation, aiming to improve diagnosis through the development of a gastroenterology and surgical referral network, and education of these specialities.

Objectives: To describe the pharmacokinetics (PK) of linezolid in plasma and pleural fluid (PF) in critically ill patients with proven or suspected Gram-positive bacterial infections.
Patients And Methods: Observational PK study in 14 critically ill patients treated with linezolid at standard doses. Blood and PF samples were collected and analysed by HPLC.

Background: Accurate diagnosis and understanding of brain disorders are crucial for the best treatment. While multimodal neuroimaging is essential, it has its limitations. Conventional computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provide detailed anatomical information but lack molecular insights, while 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG PET) offers metabolic data but often has limited spatial resolution.

Collapsin response mediator protein 2 (CRMP2) functions in the genesis and activity of neuronal connections in mammalian brain. We previously reported that a protein coincident with CRMP2 on 2D-gels undergoes marked accumulation of abnormal L-isoaspartyl sites in brain extracts of mice missing the repair enzyme, protein L-isoaspartyl methyltransferase (PIMT). To confirm and explore the significance of isoaspartyl damage in CRMP2, we expressed and purified recombinant mouse CRMP2 (rCRMP2).
