Is it possible to exceed the lithium redox potential in electrochemical systems? It seems impossible to exceed the lithium potential because the redox potential of the elemental lithium is the lowest among all the elements, which contributes to the high voltage characteristics of the widely used lithium ion battery. However, it should be possible when we use a molecule-based ion which is not reduced even at the lithium potential in principle. Here we propose a new model system using a molecular electrolyte salt with polymer-based active materials in order to verify whether a molecular ion species serves as a charge carrier. Although the potential of the negative-electrode is not yet lower than that of lithium at present, this study reveals that a molecular ion can work as a charge carrier in a battery and the system is certainly a molecular ion-based "rocking chair" type battery.

Thermally driven membrane desalination processes have garnered significant interest for their potential in the treatment of hypersaline wastewater. However, achieving high rejection rates for volatiles while maintaining a high water flux remains a considerable challenge. Herein, we propose a thermo-osmosis-evaporation (TOE) system that utilizes molecular intercalation-regulated graphene oxide (GO) as the thermo-osmotic selective permeation layer, positioned on a hydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride) fibrous membrane serving as the thermo-evaporation layer.

Functionally derivatized analogs of prenyl lipids are valuable tools for the detection and analysis of prenylated proteins. Using a biotinylated analog of geranylgeranyl, we previously identified Ykt6 as a substrate for a novel protein prenyltransferase, termed geranylgeranyltransferase type III (GGTase-III). Ykt6 is an evolutionarily highly conserved SNARE protein that regulates multiple intracellular trafficking pathways, including intra-Golgi trafficking and autophagosome-lysosome fusion.

CQHC, a novel colorimetric fluorescent sensor, developed for the selective sensing of ions and well characterised, including SC-XRD. It demonstrated selective sensing for Co, Zn, Hg and F using absorbance titration at 420 nm, 446 nm and the binding constants estimated follows the order F > Co > Hg > Zn. On light of this, molecular logic gate was built for CQHC's selective multi-ion detection.

In this study, the chemical components of Panacis Japonici Rhizoma extract and absorbed components in rats were identified by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole exactive orbitrap mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap-MS). The separation was performed by gradient elution on Waters UPLC BEH C_(18) column(2.1 mm×100 mm, 1.

Designing molecular receptors that bind anions in water is a significant challenge, and an even greater difficulty lies in using these receptors to remove anions from water without resorting to the hazardous liquid-liquid extraction approach. We here demonstrate an effective and synthetically simple strategy toward these goals by exploiting ion-pair assembly of macrocycles. Our anion binding ensemble consists of an octa-chloro tetra-urea macrocyclic anion receptor (ClTU), which forms water-dispersible aggregates, and a tetra-cationic fluorescent dye 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(1-methyl-4-pyridinio)porphyrin (TMPyP4), which provides Coulombic stabilization and fluorescence reporting of anion binding in an ion-pair assembly.
