The article is a brief review of the papers presented at the Congress "Controversies and Updates in Vascular Surgery - CACVS) held in Paris (France) on January 22-24, 2015. An emphasis is placed upon the problems of open and endovascular interventions for aortic aneurysms, lower-limb ischaemia, infection in vascular surgery, pathology of the venous system, choosing an approach for endovascular operations and a vascular access for haemodialysis.

Robert Wartenberg was an emigrant from Nazi Germany and an iconic pioneer in neurology, describing eponyms and helping to found and nurture the American Academy of Neurology. However, in 1953, ironically, he became embroiled in a controversial event regarding the German neuroscientist and Nazi collaborator Julius Hallervorden. Wartenberg attempted to convince the Dutch delegation to attend the International Neurological Congress in Lisbon from which they had withdrawn in response to Hallervorden's inclusion as a speaker.

Procedural learning and automatization have widely been studied in behavioral psychology and typically involves a rapid improvement, followed by a plateau in performance throughout repeated training. More recently, brain imaging studies have implicated frontal-striatal brain circuits in skill learning. However, it is largely unknown whether frontal-striatal activation during skill learning and behavioral changes follow a similar learning curve pattern.

Methods: Patients with HER2-negative stage I-III BC diagnosed between 2006 and 2016 were retrospectively reviewed in a single cohort from the Catalan Institute of Oncology Badalona.

Background: We aimed to (1) analyze the applicability of the updated Selecting Therapeutic Targets in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (STRIDE-II) recommendations in real-world clinical practice, (2) identify barriers to their implementation, and (3) propose practical measures to overcome these obstacles.
Methods: This qualitative study was based on a survey, a literature review, and expert opinions. Nine inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) experts identified 7 areas likely to be controversial or potential implementation barriers in daily clinical practice: endoscopy, histology, ultrasound, quality of life, biomarkers, symptom control, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).

The 275th ENMC workshop on the diagnosis and management of seronegative myasthenia gravis (SNMG) was held on February 9-11, 2024.
