Quantum chemistry calculations have been performed to compute the optimized geometries, vibrational frequencies, and Mulliken Charges at B3LYP/6-31G(d) and B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) levels for 3-(4-fluorophenyl)thiophene (FPT), 3-(4-nitrophenyl)thiophene (NPT) and 3-(4-cyanophenyl) thiophene (CPT) in the ground state. In addition, the (13)C and (1)H NMR are calculated by B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) methods. The singlet electronic excited state properties of the three compounds were investigated using the time-dependent density functional method (TD-DFT) at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p)//TD- B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. The influence of the substituted groups on C9 atom is discussed.

Mechanical Wear of Degraded Articular Cartilage.

Ann Biomed Eng

January 2025

School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, 47907, USA.

Purpose: To evaluate the mechanical wear of cartilage with different types of degradation.

Methods: Bovine osteochondral explants were treated with interleukin-1β (IL-1β) to mimic inflammatory conditions, with chondroitinase ABC (ChABC) to specifically remove glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), or with collagenase to degrade the collagen network during 5 days of culture. Viscoelastic properties of cartilage were characterized via indentation.

The best treatment method for reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures (ROIFs) is still under debate. Our team designed the modified proximal femoral nail (MPFN) specially for treating such fractures. The objective of this research was to introduce the MPFN device and compare the biomechanical properties with Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation (PFNA) and InterTAN nail via finite element modelling.

This paper studies the practical prescribed-time control problem for dual-arm robots handling an object with output constraints. Firstly, by utilizing the property that the sum of internal forces in the grasping space is zero, the system model is obtained and decomposed into the contact force model and free motion model, which are orthogonal to each other. Furthermore, by combining the performance function and constraint function, the original system tracking error is transformed to a new one, whose boundedness can ensure that the original system variable converges to the predetermined range within the specified time.

Gut microbiota disruptions after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) are associated with increased risk of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). We designed a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial to test whether healthy-donor fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) early after alloHCT reduces the incidence of severe aGVHD. Here, we report the results from the single-arm run-in phase which identified the best of 3 stool donors for the randomized phase.

Psychometric Properties of the Self Care Oral Anticancer Agents Index (SCOAAI).

Semin Oncol Nurs

January 2025

Department of Biomedicine and Prevention, Tor Vergata University of Rome, Rome, Italy; Department of Nursing and Obstetrics, Wroclaw Medical University, Poland.

Objective: To test the Self-Care Oral Anticancer Agents Index (SCOAAI)'s psychometric properties (structural validity, convergent validity, predictive validity, and internal consistency) in a sample of patients with solid tumour on Oral anticancer agents (OAA).

Methods: A methodological research in five in- or out-patient Italian facilities. Structural validity was tested by confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency was assessed through Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability.
