Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer worldwide, with numerous risk factors contributing to its development. Recent research has illuminated the significant role of the gut microbiota in CRC pathogenesis, identifying various microbial antigens as potential targets for vaccine development.
Aim: This review aimed at exploring the potential sources of microbial antigens that could be harnessed to create effective CRC vaccines and understand the role of microbiome-CRC interactions in carcinogenesis.

Macrophages are key players in maintaining the balance of tissues and dealing with inflammation, carrying out vital functions specific to different tissues while safeguarding the body against infections. The intricate interplay between oxidative stress and macrophage polarization and how this contributes to pneumonia is not fully understood. Herein, a predominant accumulation of baicalein in lung macrophages of pathogen-infected mice was observed by an alkynyl-modified probe.

: Whole-body cryostimulation (WBC) involves exposure to extremely low temperatures to reduce inflammation and pain and to enhance recovery. Despite its growing popularity and the importance of the magnitude of WBC-induced skin cooling in triggering the cascade of effects, limited research has focused on skin temperature changes in individuals with severe obesity, where body composition and sex may influence outcomes. : To examine differences in the cooling response based on sex and BMI, we conducted an observational study comparing patients with obesity to normal-weight individuals after repeated WBC sessions.

Background: Acute brainstem infarction is associated with high morbidity and mortality, the integrity of corticospinal tract (CST) detected via diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) can assist in predicting the motor recovery of the patients. In addition to the damage caused by ischemia and reperfusion, sterile inflammation also contributes to the brain injury after stroke. However, the changes in CST integrity detected by DTI in acute brainstem infarction have yet to be fully elucidated, and it is still unclear whether sterile inflammation can cause damage to the CST.

This review investigates the pathogenic processes through which crosses the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to cause meningitis, with a focus on the interaction with host receptors in the central nervous system (CNS). a primary cause of bacterial meningitis, utilizes unique receptor-mediated pathways to infiltrate the BBB. The bacterial interaction with the platelet-activating factor receptor (PAFR) and the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) is looked at in this study.
