Introduction: Target volume delineation in locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC) is clinically challenging. To ensure the quality of chemoradiotherapy (CRT) within the PelvEx II trial, a delineation guideline was developed and prospective quality assurance (QA) was instated for all patients. Guideline adherence, the impact of QA on target volumes, and subsequent guideline refinements are described in this paper.

Background/purpose: Proton radiation-therapy (PrT) may provide clinical benefit for lung cancer compared to photon radiation-therapy (PhT), however is more costly. Literature reporting costs for PrT, PhT, and comparisons thereof, particularly from a societal perspective, are scarce. This study aims to provide an adaptable framework to estimate PrT/PhT costs, demonstrated through application to lung cancer, from societal and healthcare perspectives.

Background: Past experiences of maltreatment and life adversity induce DNA methylation changes in adults, but less is known about their impact on mothers' maladaptive neglectful parenting and its negative effects. We performed an epigenome-wide association study to investigate the role of DNA methylation levels in mothers with neglectful care, who were exposed to childhood maltreatment and neglect, and their current negative effects. Saliva DNA methylation was determined with the Illumina Human Methylation EPIC BeadChip v1.

Background: Limited data exists on persons with rare bleeding disorders (RBDs) possessing a heterozygous genotype, as most studies focus on bi-allelic genotypes and more severe coagulation factor deficiencies. A growing body of evidence suggests that persons with a heterozygous genotype experience clinically relevant bleeding symptoms.
Objectives: Explore the incidence of bleeding symptoms and postoperative bleeding in persons with a heterozygous genotype.
