We describe the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with progressive dyspnoea on exertion and severe exertional hypoxia. There was a paucity of radiological findings, mild pulmonary hypertension, and no demonstrable anatomical shunt. Post mortem examination of lung tissue suggested a diagnosis of pulmonary capillary haemangiomatosis. The case is unusual in displaying few radiological findings. We postulate that the severe hypoxia was due to shunting through the abnormal capillary proliferations.

Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (aVEGF-TMA) was recently discovered in patients with malignant tumors. Four aVEGF-TMA patients diagnosed by renal biopsy between 2018 and 2022 were identified, and all were females aged 30-62 years (mean age, 47 years). Two patients with malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumors who received sunitinib were analyzed.

The left atrium (LA) is pivotal in cardiac hemodynamics, serving as a dynamic indicator of left ventricular (LV) compliance and diastolic function. The LA undergoes structural and functional adaptations in response to hemodynamic stress, infiltrative processes, myocardial injury, and arrhythmic triggers. Remodeling of the LA in response to these stressors directly impacts pulmonary circulation, eventually leading to pulmonary capillary involvement, pulmonary artery hypertension, and eventually right ventricular failure.

An efficient novel approach is introduced to predict the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer by monitoring the serum N-glycome of patients combined with artificial intelligence-based data analysis. The study involved thirty-three lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Serum samples were taken before and after the treatment.

Hyperpolarized Xe MRI/MRS enables quantitative mapping of function in lung airspaces, membrane tissue, and red blood cells (RBCs) within the pulmonary capillaries. The RBC signal also exhibits cardiogenic oscillations that are reduced in pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension (PH). This effect is obscured in patients with concomitant defects in transfer from airspaces to RBCs, which increase RBC oscillation amplitudes.

Background: The roles of the Pink1/Parkin pathway and mitophagy in lung injury during heat stroke remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy in acute lung injury (ALI) in rats with exertional heat stroke (EHS).
Methods: Sixty Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into control (CON), control + Parkin overexpression (CON + Parkin), EHS, and EHS + Parkin overexpression (EHS + Parkin) groups.
