The cation of the complex title salt, [Zn(C13H11N3)2(H2O)](NO3)2, lies about a twofold rotation axis, which passes through the Zn(II) atom and the O atom of the aqua ligand. The Zn(II) atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry defined by two N atoms in axial positions [angle = 166.24 (7)°], and two N and one O atom in the equatorial plane [range of angles: 115.17 (7)-122.42 (3)°]. The dihedral angle between the imidazole and aniline rings is 23.86 (5)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional network.

Two novel complexes, [Cu()Cl] and [Zn()Cl], were synthesized from 1,1'-[(3-fluoro-phen-yl)methyl-ene]bis-[3-(3-fluoro-phen-yl)imidazo[1,5-]pyridine] (), and copper(II) and zinc(II) chloride, respectively. The structures of these complexes were confirmed using ESI-MS, IR and H NMR spectra. The results reveal mononuclear structures in which the central metal atoms are coordinated by two N atoms from the imidazole rings and two Cl ligands.

Since the 1980s, pressure-sensitive paint (PSP) has been used as an optical pressure sensor for measuring surface pressure on aircraft models in wind tunnels. Typically, PSPs have utilized platinum(II)-5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)-porphyrin due to its high pressure sensitivity, phosphorescence lifetime of ∼50 μs, reasonable quantum yield of emission, and resistance to photo-oxidation. This work investigates the photophysics and electronic structure of metal complexes of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)-porphyrin, namely, Zn(II), Pd(II), and Ir(III), as potentially improved luminophores for polymer-based PSPs.

The title compound, [Zn(CHClNO)Cl], is a dinuclear zinc(II) complex with three chlorido ligands and one penta-dentate ligand containing quinolin-8-olato and bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine groups. One of the two Zn atom adopts a tetra-hedral geometry and coordinates two chlorido ligands with chelate coord-ination of the N and O atoms of the quinolin-8-olato group in the ligand. The other Zn atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, and coordinates one chlorido-O atom of the quinolin-8-olato group and three N atoms of the bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine unit.

Herein, we describe a Zn-catalyzed atom-economical, inexpensive, and sustainable method for preparing a broad spectrum of substituted olefins utilizing alcohols as the main precursor. Using a Zn(II) complex [ZnLCl] () of the redox-noninnocent ligand 2-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (), various ()-olefins were prepared in good yields by coupling alcohols with sulfones and aryl cyanides under an inert atmosphere. Under an aerial atmosphere, vinyl nitriles were isolated in up to 82% yield reacting alcohols with benzyl cyanides in the presence of .
