The traumatic bone cyst, an uncommon lesion of the jaws, belongs to the category of 'pseudocyst' owing to its lack of a lining epithelial membrane. It is an asymptomatic lesion, which is often diagnosed accidentally during routine radiological examination commonly present in the posterior mandible as a unilocular radiolucency with scalloping borders. The exact etiopathogenesis of the lesion is still debated, though the role of trauma is often associated. Here we report a rare case of traumatic bone cyst in the anterior mandible, in a 16-year-old female patient with a previous history of trauma to chin; diagnosed and treated successfully in our surgical unit. The case is discussed in relation to its clinical presentation, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, management and prognosis.

Background: The treatment algorithm for traumatic shoulder instability has evolved, emphasizing the significance of glenoid bone loss and the glenoid track, addressing humeral, and glenoid vault bone deficiencies. This study examines trends and demographics of anterior shoulder instability procedures in the United States from 2010 to 2020.
Methods: PearlDiver database was queried for patients who underwent traumatic anterior shoulder instability procedures.

Osteomyelitis, a severe bone infection, is an extremely challenging complication in the repair of traumatic bone defects. Furthermore, the use of long-term high-dose antibiotics in standard treatment increases the risks of antibiotic resistance. Herein, an antibiotic-free, collagen silver-doped hydroxyapatite (coll-AgHA) scaffold reinforced with a 3D printed polycaprolactone (PCL) framework was developed with enhanced mechanical properties to be used in the repair of load-bearing defects with antimicrobial properties as a preventative measure against osteomyelitis.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the morphology and distribution characteristics of fat globules in osteomyelitis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Materials And Methods: Patients with pathologically-confirmed osteomyelitis and MRI scans were retrospectively enrolled, and fat globules on the MRI images were analyzed.
Results: Among 103 patients with non-traumatic osteomyelitis, 75 were fat globule negative and 28 were positive.

Fractures of the thoracic (Th) and lumbar (L) vertebrae are among the most frequent fracture entities in Germany and particularly affect the thoracolumbar junction (TLJ; Th11-L2). Based on expert recommendations and consensus meetings, the thoracolumbar AOSpine injury score was established for patients with healthy bone and the osteoporotic fracture (OF) score for geriatric patients with the respective classifications for treatment decisions. In both cohorts, the treatment decision is based on the fracture morphology, neurological status and patient-specific contextual factors.

The orthopaedic community frequently encounters polytrauma individuals with concomitant traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their fractures demonstrate accelerated fracture union, but the mechanisms remain far from clear. Animal and clinical studies demonstrate robust callus formation at the early healing process and expedited radiographical union. In humans, robust callus formation in TBI occurs independently of fracture fixation methods across multiple fracture sites.
