Background: As the practice of cardiothoracic surgery continues to evolve, the optimal training model represents an area of uncertainty. We sought to describe and to compare the early career experiences of cardiothoracic surgery graduates from the 3 training models.
Methods: An anonymous survey with questions pertaining to an individual's demographic characteristics, training model, first employment experience, experience as junior faculty, career satisfaction, and personal reflection was sent to graduates from US cardiothoracic surgery training programs between 2012 and 2020.

Background: Catheter-directed interventions (CDIs) for pulmonary embolism (PE) continue to evolve. However, due to the paucity of data, their use has been limited in patients with underlying kidney disease.
Methods: The National Readmission Database (2016-2020) was utilized to identify intermediate to high-risk PE (IHR-PE) patients requiring CDI (thrombectomy, thrombolysis, and ultrasound-assisted thrombolysis).

Background: Simulation-based training has gained distinction in cardiothoracic surgery, as robotic-assisted cardiac procedures evolve. Despite the increasing use of wet lab simulators, the effectiveness of these training methods and skill acquisition rates remain poorly understood.
Objective: This study aimed to compare learning curves and assess the robotic cardiac surgical skill acquisition rate for cardiac and noncardiac surgeons who had no robotic experience in a wet lab simulation setting.

The mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) is a nuclear transcription factor that plays a critical role in regulating fluid, electrolytes, blood pressure, and hemodynamic stability. In conditions such as chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure (HF), MR overactivation leads to increased salt and water retention, inflammatory and fibrotic gene expression, and organ injury. The MR is essential for transcriptional regulation and is implicated in metabolic, proinflammatory, and pro-fibrotic pathways.
