Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is a Gram-negative germ, responsible for severe infections. PA infected chronic wounds are a clinically highly relevant topic. PA has a natural resistance to many antibiotics, and there is no consensus on a first-line antibiotic to be used. In the context of chronic ulcers with an unfavorable evolution, we suggest intravenous antibiotic therapy, ideally on an in-patient basis. Given the sparse evidence from clinical trials, we heavily rely on clinical experience when it comes to managing chronic ulcers infected with PA.

Objectives: To assess the susceptibility of ceftolozane/tazobactam (C/T) and comparators to Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates recovered from respiratory-tract-infections (RTI) between 2016-2022 in the French SMART study.
Methods: Antibiotic susceptibility testing and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 717 P.aeruginosa isolates collected in five French hospitals were determined and interpreted according to the EUCAST-2022 guidelines.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major pathogen in clinical settings, notorious for its intrinsic resistance to multiple antibiotics and ability to form biofilms, therefore, complicating treatment. This study reporting the results of a high-throughput screen of an antibacterial library targeting LasR, a key QS regulator in P. aeruginosa MB638, isolated from an infected surgical implant.

Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infections (Pa-BSIs) are still a major cause of mortality in ICUs, posing many treatment uncertainties.
Methods: This multicentre, retrospective study analysed data from 14 Italian hospitals, including all consecutive adults developing Pa-BSI in ICU during 2021-22 and treated with antibiotics for at least 48 h. The primary aim was to identify predictors of 30 day mortality using Cox regression.

The opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa relies on a large collection of two-component regulatory systems (TCSs) to sense and adapt to changing environments. Among them, the Roc (regulation of cup) system is a one-of-a-kind network of branched TCSs, composed of two histidine kinases (HKs-RocS1 and RocS2) interacting with three response regulators (RRs-RocA1, RocR, and RocA2), which regulate virulence, antibiotic resistance, and biofilm formation. Based on extensive work on the Roc system, previous data suggested the existence of other key regulators yet to be discovered.

Mediating protein citrullination, peptidyl arginine deiminase 2 (PAD2) has recently been reported to influence macrophage phenotypes. However, the mechanisms of PAD2 on macrophage function in Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA)-induced acute lung injury syndrome (ALI) remains unclear. Utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing and mass spectrometry-based proteomics, a new citrullination site at arginine 171 (R171) is discovered within nuclear factor- κB (NF-κB) p65 catalyzed by PAD2, which modulates PAD2-NF-κB p65-importin α3 pathway and its downstream M1/M2 macrophage polarization.
