Individuals with comorbid rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behaviour disorder (RBD) and neurotrauma (NT; defined by traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder) have an earlier age of RBD symptom onset, increased RBD-related symptom severity and more neurological features indicative of prodromal synucleinopathy compared to RBD only. An early sign of neurodegenerative condition is autonomic dysfunction, which we sought to evaluate by examining heart rate variability during sleep. Participants with overnight polysomnography were recruited from the Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System.

Loiasis is a vector-borne parasitic disease that has long been neglected due to its benign nature and its geographical distribution, which is restricted to the forest regions of Central and West Africa. However, it is now recognized as a significant public health concern in endemic areas, where chronically infected patients face organ damage and an increased risk of mortality. Loiasis presents several challenges, from diagnosis to treatment, as inappropriate therapies can lead to severe and at times fatal side effects.

Occupational heat stress poses a major threat to worker health and safety that is projected to worsen with global climate warming. To manage these adverse effects, most industries rely on administrative controls (stay times and work-to-rest allocations) that are designed to limit the rise in body core temperature in the 'average' individual. However, due to the extensive inter- and intra-individual variation in thermoregulatory function, these administrative controls will result in some individuals having their work rate and productivity unnecessarily restricted (false positives), while others may be subject to rises in heat strain that compromise health (false negatives).

Chiral luminescent materials have garnered increasing attention for their exceptional ability to emit circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) along with their excellent applications. Here, a cyclohexylidene scaffold was conceptualized as a chiral source for developing higher performance CPL materials in term of simultaneously enhanced quantum yields (PLQYs) and dissymmetry factor. It was found that the axially chiral scaffold attached with a cyanostilbene showed a pathway dependent assembly route to form chiral luminescent liquid crystals and crystal upon fast and slow cooling, respectively.
