D-Cysteinolic acid (1) analogues with an S-C-C-N skeleton showed increased platelet anti-aggregant activity in the following order: 2-aminoethanesulfonic acids, thiazolidines, 2-aminoethanethiols and 2-aminoethyl disulfides. Methyl substitutions at the 2-position potentiated the activity. Of these analogues, bis [(R)-2-aminopropyl] disulfide was the most potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation, with about 600-fold the activity of (1).

In the last years, it has become evident that both acute and chronic physical exercise trigger responses/adaptations in the purinergic signaling and these adaptations can be considered one important mechanism related to the exercise benefits for health improvement. Purinergic system is composed of enzymes (ectonucleotidases), receptors (P1 and P2 families), and molecules (ATP, ADP, adenosine) that are able to activate these receptors. These components are widely distributed in almost all cell types, and they respond/act in a specific manner depending on the exercise types and/or intensities as well as the cell type (organ/tissue analyzed).

Introduction And Importance: Essential thrombocythemia (ET) is a myeloproliferative disorder characterized by increased platelet count and a high risk of bleeding or thrombotic events due to platelet dysfunction. Patients with ET are treated according to their risk of complications with cytoreductive or anti-aggregant treatment. Neither guidelines for oncologic patients nor perioperative management of patients with ET have been determined.

Objective: Inflammation plays a critical role in atherosclerosis. This study examines the effects of ticagrelor and clopidogrel on inflammatory parameters, obtained from complete blood count (CBC) and biochemical measurements, in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Methods And Results: One hundred acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients were included in the study and grouped according to clopidogrel ( = 50) or ticagrelor ( = 50) usage as an anti-aggregant (with acetylsalicylic acid).

Tomato paste production generates a residue known as tomato pomace, which corresponds to peels and seeds separated during tomato processing. Currently, there is an opportunity to use tomato pomace to obtain a functional extract with antithrombotic properties, such as platelet anti-aggregant activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield and inhibitory activity of different extracts of tomato pomace on in vitro platelet aggregation, comparing this activity with commercial cardioprotective products, and quantify bioactive compounds.

Purpose: Nausea and vomiting is the main cause of failure of enhanced recovery protocol (ERP) after right hemicolectomy.
Methods: From January 2013 to January 2018, all patients undergoing right hemicolectomy were prospectively included. Patients undergoing emergency surgery, additional complex procedure or temporary stoma, nasogastric tube (NGT) maintenance, or abdominal drainage were excluded.
