Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the significance of influenza vaccination in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and evaluates methods to enhance vaccine uptake among this high-risk group.
  • The research consists of three nationwide randomized clinical trials conducted in Denmark that tested the effectiveness of electronically delivered behavioral nudges against usual care in increasing vaccination rates among AMI patients.
  • The primary outcome measured was the rate of influenza vaccinations received, with findings suggesting that these behavioral nudges could potentially improve vaccination uptake in the targeted population.

Bringing Imaging Biomarkers Into Clinical Reality in Psychiatry.

JAMA Psychiatry

November 2024

Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of California, San Francisco.

Importance: Advancing precision psychiatry, where treatments are based on an individual's biology rather than solely their clinical presentation, requires attention to several key attributes for any candidate biomarker. These include test-retest reliability, sensitivity to relevant neurophysiology, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. Unfortunately, these issues have not been systematically addressed by biomarker development efforts that use common neuroimaging tools like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalography (EEG).

Mastering Proton Activities in Aqueous Batteries.

Adv Mater

September 2024

Department of Chemistry-Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University, Box 538, Uppsala, 751 21, Sweden.

Advanced aqueous batteries are promising solutions for grid energy storage. Compared with their organic counterparts, water-based electrolytes enable fast transport kinetics, high safety, low cost, and enhanced environmental sustainability. However, the presence of protons in the electrolyte, generated by the spontaneous ionization of water, may compete with the main charge-storage mechanism, trigger unwanted side reactions, and accelerate the deterioration of the cell performance.
