Introduction: Several investigations have shown that existing risk stratification processes remain insufficient for stratifying sudden cardiac death risk in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC). Multiple auxiliary parameters are investigated to offer a more precise prognostic model. Our aim was to assess the association between several ECG markers (epsilon waves, prolonged terminal activation duration (TAD) of QRS, fragmented QRS (fQRS), late potentials on signal-averaged electrocardiogram (SA-ECG), T-wave inversion (TWI) in right precordial leads, and extension of TWI in inferior leads) with the risk of developing poor outcomes in ARVC.

Biomimetic Aspects of Oral and Dentofacial Regeneration.

Biomimetics (Basel)

October 2020

McGill Craniofacial Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells Laboratory, Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University, 3640 University Street, Montreal, QC H3A 0C7, Canada.

Biomimetic materials for hard and soft tissues have advanced in the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in dentistry. To examine these recent advances, we searched Medline (OVID) with the key terms "biomimetics", "biomaterials", and "biomimicry" combined with MeSH terms for "dentistry" and limited the date of publication between 2010-2020. Over 500 articles were obtained under clinical trials, randomized clinical trials, metanalysis, and systematic reviews developed in the past 10 years in three major areas of dentistry: restorative, orofacial surgery, and periodontics.

Patients with brain injury and spasticity are candidates for intrathecal baclofen therapy (ITB) when maximal doses of oral antispastic drugs fail. Some authors have described an improvement in the level of consciousness in patients with brain injury and disorder of consciousness treated with ITB for spasticity. We present the case of a 43-year-old patient with brain injury, spasticity, and permanent vegetative state (PVS) who showed an improvement in the level of consciousness after ITB for spasticity.

We study, apropos of a case, a total hip arthroplasty in a patient with osteogenesis imperfecta. The characteristics of this disease, such as high risk of fracture and the presence of deformities, make this surgery a challenge for the orthopedic surgeon. In this manuscript, we review for the first time in this indication the preoperative planning and the selection of implants, with special emphasis on measures for the prevention of complications.
