Using linear sucrose-density ultracentrifugation analysis of Triton-solubilized Newcastle Disease Virus envelopes, we have evidenced, for the first time, the existence of interactions between the outer hemagglutinin-neuraminidase transmembrane glycoprotein and the inner non-glycosylated peripheral matrix protein. Such interactions seem to be electrostatic. These conclusions are based on the behavior of both proteins at different ionic strengths. When in low ionic strength buffer, hemagglutinin-neuraminidase and matrix proteins band together in the sucrose gradient, whereas at high ionic strength both proteins band at different rates in the gradient. The behavior of the inner matrix protein in our conditions was the expected one for a peripheral protein. The results of these 'in vitro' studies are also discussed in terms of the possible 'in vivo' role of such interactions.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a distinctive epithelial cancer closely associated with Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection, posing significant challenges in diagnosis and treatment due to its resistance to conventional therapies and high recurrence rates. Current therapies, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy, exhibit limited efficacy, particularly in recurrent or metastatic cases, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapeutic strategies. Targeting EBV oncoproteins, such as Epstein-Barr Virus encoded Nuclear Antigen 1 (EBNA1), Latent Membrane Protein 1 (LMP1), and Latent Membrane Protein 2 (LMP2), presents a promising therapeutic avenue in NPC treatment.

Chronic wounds significantly contribute to disability and affect the mortality rate in diabetic patients. In addition, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, arterial ulcers, and venous ulcers pose a significant health burden due to their associated morbidity and death. The complex healing process, environmental factors, and genetic factors have been identified as the rate-limiting stages of chronic wound healing.

Aims: The goal of this study was to explore new candidate genes and pathogenesis mechanisms of nonsyndromic hereditary gingival fibromatosis (nsHGF) and to provide an experimental basis for the diagnosis of nsHGF.
Methods: Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on peripheral blood DNA from three nsHGF family members to screen for new candidate genes, and Sanger sequencing and related databases were used to verify the pathogenicity of this gene deficiency. Moreover, the effects of gene deficiency on the biological characteristics of human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) were evaluated via cell proliferation assays, extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition detection, cell apoptosis and cell cycle assessment, cell migration and gene expression analyses.

1. As one of the most widespread poultry species in the world, pigeons have been bred primarily for meat production due to their high nutritional value and good taste. Their breast muscle is an important economic product as it determines the yield and quality of meat from pigeons.
